About Salt of the Earth

In the heart of New Mexico's Empire Zinc mine during the 1950s, Mexican-American workers bravely stand against unsafe working conditions and discriminatory wages, starkly contrasting with their Anglo counterparts' privileges. Ramon Quintero, initially a leading figure in organizing the strike, faces scrutiny for his own patriarchal treatment of his pregnant wife, Esperanza. However, when a court injunction bars the men from protesting, a remarkable shift occurs. The women take their place on the picket lines, displaying unwavering courage, while the men find themselves supporting from home.
