About The African Queen

Set against the backdrop of World War I in remote Africa, The African Queen follows the improbable alliance between Charlie Allnut, a boozy, cynical riverboat captain, and Rose Sayer, a determined and proper missionary. When Rose's brother is killed by German forces, she convinces Charlie to use his dilapidated steamboat, the African Queen, to strike a blow against the enemy. Their audacious plan: to navigate the treacherous Ulanga River and destroy a German warship, the Louisa, that patrols a vast lake. As they face perilous rapids, disease, and the constant threat of discovery, an unexpected bond forms between the mismatched pair, leading them on a journey of self-discovery and unlikely heroism.
