About The Age of Innocence

In the rigid social circles of 19th-century New York, Newland Archer, a promising young lawyer, finds himself torn between his engagement to the innocent and well-bred May Welland and his overwhelming attraction to May's unconventional cousin, Countess Ellen Olenska, who is seeking a divorce. As Newland navigates the complex web of societal expectations and hidden passions, he must confront the true cost of love and the suffocating constraints of a world where appearances matter more than genuine emotion. His internal conflict highlights the hypocrisy and unspoken rules that govern the lives of the elite, forcing him to choose between personal happiness and social acceptance.
