About The Love Bug

Jim Douglas, a down-on-his-luck race car driver finds his life unexpectedly turned around when he acquires a seemingly ordinary 1963 Volkswagen Beetle. This is not any car: named Herbie, it possesses a distinct personality and a surprising knack for winning races. As Jim starts experiencing victories, a rivalry emerges with the devious Peter Thorndyke, who will do anything to win. Thorndyke, noticing Herbie's unique abilities, plots to steal the car for himself. Jim, initially oblivious to Herbie's extraordinary qualities, soon realizes the true value of his automotive companion and must defend him, not only on the racetrack but also from the clutches of his envious competitor.
