About The Rite

In an unnamed country, a stern judge interrogates three actors, both individually and as a group, regarding a controversial pornographic performance that could result in hefty fines. The actors' intertwined relationships are fraught with tension. Sebastian, portrayed as volatile and battling alcoholism and debt, is haunted by the death of his former partner, for which he feels responsible, and is embroiled in an affair with the deceased man's widow, Thea. Thea, depicted as high-strung and emotionally fragile, is currently married to Hans, Sebastian's new partner. Hans, the troupe's composed and wealthy leader, is growing weary of the situation. The judge exploits their insecurities, but when the actors finally stage the masque, The Rite, in a private session, they may ultimately exact their revenge, exposing the judge's own vulnerabilities and challenging the very nature of authority.

Directed by Ingmar Bergman, The Rite boasts a stellar cast including Ingrid Thulin as Thea Winkelmann, a fragile and emotionally complex actress; Anders Ek as Sebastian Fischer, a troubled and volatile actor haunted by his past; Gunnar Bjrnstrand as Judge Abrahamson, the stern and probing authority figure; Erik Hell as Hans Winkelmann, the troupe leader and Thea's husband; and Ingmar Bergman himself in a cameo appearance. How to stream with ExpressVPN

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is an app that encrypts your internet connection and masks your IP address, allowing you to stream securely and bypass restrictions.

Why Use a VPN for Streaming?

- Bypass Geo-Restrictions: Many streaming services are geographically restricted. If you’re traveling outside the U.S., a VPN can make it appear as if you’re still in the country, giving you access to your subscriptions.
- Avoid ISP Throttling: Your internet provider might slow down your connection during high-bandwidth activities like streaming. A VPN encrypts your activity, preventing your ISP from throttling your speeds and ensuring a smooth, buffer-free experience.
- Increase Privacy: A VPN protects your data on non-secure public Wi-Fi networks by creating an encrypted tunnel, safeguarding your personal information while you stream.
