About You Were My First Boyfriend

In You Were My First Boyfriend, Cecilia Aldarondo revisits her high school experiences through a unique lens. The film cleverly upends the traditional reunion narrative, as Aldarondo questions the accuracy of her own memories of adolescence. What emerges is a compelling exploration of how we construct our personal histories, and how those histories shape our present selves. The documentary dives deep into the directors past, examining the triumphs and traumas of youth with both humor and unflinching honesty. By interweaving personal anecdotes with broader reflections on memory and identity, Aldarondo creates a film that is both deeply personal and universally relatable.
