It can be very difficult to find youth sports on even the most sports-forward streaming platforms. Services like NFHS Network do a terrific job of streaming high school sports, but for lower levels of competition there simply aren’t that many services out there carrying a large selection.

NBC Sports Next, a subsidiary of NBC Sports has created a new streaming platform to help fill this programming gap. The streamer is called SportsEngine Play, and it offers live youth sports games, instructional videos from pro athletes like Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Phelps, and Maria Sharapova, and much more.

Any Sport, Anytime

SportsEngine Play offers a wide range of content, both live and on-demand. According to Deadline, video is sourced from different places, ranging from individual mobile phones to professionally installed cameras within venues. Thus far, over 90 cameras have been put in place in more than 85 venues across the country.

“We’re thrilled to introduce SportsEngine Play to the more than 30,000 youth sports organizations and the millions of players and families we serve through our NBC Sports Next technology platforms and applications,” NBC Sports Next SVP and GM Brett MacKinnon said. “Given our sports and media DNA, we’re uniquely positioned to deliver this product to the sports community – a preeminent streaming platform for all youth and amateur sports, with personalized video content, the best instructional and player development videos, and much more to come as we continue to grow.”

The service has partnered with the National Governing Bodies of Sport and other organizations and is also working with public school districts to create client-branded SportsEngine Play platforms tailored specifically to those locations for personalized content.

How Much Does SportsEngine Play Cost?

The service has three tiers: Free, which gives users access to select on-demand game replays and “The Pros,” a series of videos by professional athletes tailored specifically for young players; Premier, which offers some live games, ad-free streams of on-demand content, and the ability to download content to watch offline as well as video editing tools for uploading your own highlights ($10 per month); and the All-Access tier, which offers everything in the Premier plan in addition to more premium live and on-demand events (normally $20 per month, reduced to $10 for a limited time).

What Devices Can You Use to Stream SportsEngine Play?

Currently, SportsEngine Play is only available on Web and mobile devices, including Android and iOS. A dedicated connected TV app for the service is coming in 2024.

Are All Youth Sports Teams Available on SportsEngine Play?
