YouTube is launching a new end-of-year recap feature.

When December rolls around, music and podcast listeners around the United States quickly become impatient for their Spotify Wrapped results. This yearly update shows users how long they spent listening, favorite artists, and other key stats, and YouTube is no longer sitting on the sidelines watching the success of Spotify Wrapped year after year. YouTube has announced that it is launching a new Recap feature for viewers that will help them review their year of watching.

Key Details:

  • Available now: YouTube Recap is rolling out in North America as of Tuesday.
  • A dozen options: Viewers will see up to 12 different cards that show their top channels and interests.
  • Multimedia: Users who listen to a lot of music on YouTube will see Top Artists and Top Songs in their Recap.

YouTube Recap is rolling out even now across North America, and is coming to the rest of the world this week as well. Users who want to see their Recap can do so on the YouTube mobile app or website, and will find it either right on the home page or under the service’s You tab.

Recap will show viewers up to 12 different cards based on their watch history for the year. These cards will spotlight a watcher’s top channels and interests, and the evolution of their viewing habits throughout the year. YouTube Recap will even assign you a personality type based on your streaming throughout the year.

Music listeners will also get a deep dive into their year of using YouTube with the new Recap feature. Such users will see Top Artists and Songs, and will have the option to dive deeper into their top genres, podcasts, and even international music tastes when using the YouTube Music app.

YouTube’s Recap feature is available to all users of the service, including those who watch free with ads and YouTube Premium customers who pay to go ad-free. The feature will likely help increase engagement on YouTube even further, making customers feel more connected to the platform by giving them such deep details about their viewing history.
