Crunchyroll Announces 2024 Anime Award Nominees; Makes Select Nominated Series Available to Stream for Free
Voting is open now through Saturday, Jan. 27 and viewers can stream select nominees for free through March 2.
With the Golden Globes and Emmy Awards already behind us and the Academy Award nominations being announced on Tuesday, Jan. 23, we are firmly entrenched in the middle of awards season. This week, the world’s leading anime streaming service Crunchyroll released the nominees for the eighth annual Anime Awards. The winners will be announced during a live ceremony on Saturday, March 2 that will be livestreamed on the platform in a ceremony hosted by voice actress Sally Amaki and entertainer Jon Kabira. Voting is now open through Saturday, Jan. 27 at 11:59 p.m. PT, anime fans are able to vote on Crunchyroll's website.

Who Will Be Presenting at the Anime Awards?
In addition to the main 32 awards, during the Anime Awards pre-show, hosts from across Crunchyroll programming as well as celebrity presenters will announce winners of multiple fan-favorite awards. Kenichiro Yoshida — the chairman and CEO of Cruncyroll’s parent company Sony Group — will also be on hand to deliver opening remarks.
Crunchyroll has announced the initial list of presenters, including celebrities and artists from around the world and across many different genres. Additional presenters for the live ceremony and pre-show presentations will be announced in the coming weeks:
- Megan Thee Stallion: Three-time Grammy-winning recording artist, philanthropist, and entrepreneur
- Iman Vellani: Award-winning actress from “Ms. Marvel” and “The Marvels”
- LiSA: Japanese singer-songwriter who has performed hit anime theme songs
- Roland: Japanese night club host, entrepreneur, and TV personality
- Aquaria: American fashion model, international DJ, and winner of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 10.
- Che Lingo: British rapper and artist
- Lena Lemon: Content creator focused on anime, cosplay, and gaming.
- Yaeji: Artist, producer, vocalist, and DJ
- Ylona Garcia: Singer born in the Philippines, raised in Australia.

I’m really excited for the opportunity to attend and present an award at this year’s Crunchyroll Anime Awards. In celebration of the titles nominated for this year’s Anime Awards, Crunchyroll has put together a selection of nominated series that normally stream on its premium ad-free tier. The service has made those titles available to stream on its ad-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) platform through March 2.
What Are the 2024 Anime Awards Nominees?
Over the past two years, Crunchyroll has grown to be a dominant player in genre streaming. Last week, the service announced that it had grown to over 13 million paid subscribers around the world as anime’s popularity continues to grow beyond its traditional niche audience.
The 2024 Anime Award nominations recognize the best that the art form has to offer from all sides of the growing industry.
“With more than 30 anime studios, 5 streaming platforms, 50 series and films, and over 50 voice actors, the nominees for the Crunchyroll Anime Awards represent the world-class creatives powering the global love of anime,” Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini said. “We’re proud to present this year’s nominees and look forward to the show where we, with our incredible slate of global presenters, will celebrate anime’s ability to captivate fans around the world.”
