Warner Bros. Discovery Announces Max Price Increase, But It Won’t Apply to All Subscribers
This is the platform’s second price increase since launching in 2020.
On Monday, The Streamable reported that Warner Bros. Discovery was preparing to announce a price increase for its flagship streaming service Max. On Tuesday, the company made the move official by announcing that both of its ad-free plans will increase by $1 per month effective immediately for new customers and next month for existing customers, with annual plans increasing as well. As predicted by our streaming expert David Satin, the price of the Max With Ads plan will remain unchanged.

- The increases are in effect immediately for new customers and will hit current customers’ bills on or after July 4.
The lower-cost ad-free Max tier will increase from $15.99 to $16.99 monthly while the annual plan will rise from $149.99 to $169.99. Like the ad-supported plan, this subscription option provides for two simultaneous streams and full HD resolution but also allows consumers to download up to 30 titles in order to stream offline.
The Max Ultimate Ad-Free plan is also set to see its price rise by a dollar. It will go from its current rate of $19.99 up to $20.99 per month, while the annual option will jump by $10 to $209.99. For the extra $4 per month, subscribers to this tear are able to stream on four devices at once while also enjoying 4K Ultra HD video and Dolby Atmos immersive audio on available titles. They are also able to download up to 100 shows and movies for viewing on the go.
These price increases are now in effect for all new customers looking to sign up for Max, but those already subscribed will see the change reflected on their first billing cycle on or after July 4. Warner Bros. Discovery has said that existing subscribers will receive an email from Max 30 days in advance of their price increase so that they will be able to plan accordingly.
