YouTube TV Dropping Arizona’s Family 3TV; Where Can You Watch the Channel Now?

One of the channels that carries Phoenix Suns games for Arizona viewers is no longer available on YouTube TV.

One of the worst parts about being a pay-TV customer is not knowing if or when their service will drop one of their favorite channels. YouTube TV customers in Arizona are dealing with that problem this week after news began to spread that the service would be letting go of a favorite local network.

  • YouTube TV is dropping Arizona’s Family 3TV (KTVK) on Nov. 18.
  • No official reason has been given, but it’s likely that the channel’s owner asked for an increase in retransmission fees.
  • Users can still find Arizona’s Family 3TV on Fubo and DIRECTV STREAM.

When and Why is YouTube TV Dropping Arizona’s Family 3TV

There was no official statement from YouTube TV as to why the channel was being removed from its lineup in Arizona as of Saturday, Nov. 18. In the vast majority of such cases, however, the channel in question is pulled from that provider’s offerings because its owner wants carriage fees the provider is unwilling to pay. That’s what led Disney-owned channels to be removed from Spectrum TV plans for a week and a half in early September.

“We are disappointed that YouTube TV has come to this decision, as we have done everything in our power to reach a market-based agreement,” says a statement on the Arizona's Family 3TV website.

Unlike the Disney-owned channels, however, it’s not terribly likely that YouTube TV will restore Arizona’s Family 3TV to its lineup. Unless an overwhelming majority of customers in the channel’s market contact YouTube to express their displeasure, there won’t be much incentive for the company to bring the network back.

Arizona’s Family 3TV is one of two broadcast channels that carry Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury games after those teams left Bally Sports Arizona this year. The other channel, Arizona’s Family CBS 5 (KPHO) will still be available on YouTube TV after Nov. 18.

Where Else Can You Stream Arizona’s Family 3TV Without a Cable Subscription?

DIRECTV STREAM is one of two live TV streaming services that still carries Arizona’s Family 3TV. Its plans normally start at $79.99 per month, but for a limited time new customers can save $25 off their subscription for two months, no matter which plan they choose! DIRECTV STREAM users also get a five-day free trial, free access to premium streaming services like Max for three months, and more of the top cable news, sports, and entertainment networks than any other streamer’s customers.

Fubo also carries Arizona’s Family 3TV, as well as Arizona’s Family Sports. This streamer’s prices start at $85.98 if users have a regional sports network in their market, but it also comes with a free trial and a huge amount of access to live sports channels as well as cable news and entertainment. To see all your favorite Arizona sports teams as well as get local content via Arizona’s Family 3TV, Fubo is an excellent choice.
