NFL+ suffers issues as viewers try to tune in for preseason Week 1
High-profile NFL analysts and other NFL+ subscribers found themselves unable to use the platform on Thursday evening.
Fans who tried to tune in to NFL+ to watch No. 1 overall draft pick Fernando Mendoza’s first snaps with the Las Vegas Raiders were often met with frustration on Thursday night. The streaming service suffered performance issues for many viewers, with high-profile NFL analysts and others reporting they could not log in to watch the out-of-market preseason games that come with their subscription.
Key Details:
- Down for the count: NFL+ suffered widespread issues on Thursday night as viewers tried to watch preseason games.
- ‘Refund us’: High-profile NFL analyst Warren Sharp was among those affected by the outage.
- No time to lose: The NFL preseason continues with a full slate on Friday evening.
The league took fire on social media from many fans who had problems logging into NFL+ on Thursday night. The streamer ostensibly allows viewers to watch all out-of-market preseason games, but some customers who already had subscriptions reported being prompted to purchase another if they could log in at all.
Well-known NFL analyst Warren Sharp was one of many affected customers. Sharp took to social media to call on the league to refund viewers who could not access the streamer, and his post was commented on by many other viewers who said they were also experiencing issues.
hey @nfl go ahead and refund us for your terrible @NFLPlus product if you’re not gonna let us watch games and login properly to access what we paid for cc: @nflcommish

The NFL+ X (formerly Twitter) account acknowledged the problems on Thursday evening and pledged that the issues were being resolved. All calls from fans for refunds have thus far gone unanswered, but the league doesn’t have much time to get things ship-shape on the streamer.
There are three more games set for Friday night, and even more are scheduled for Saturday. If the league doesn’t get things on NFL+ straightened out quickly, it will face a much larger ruckus from fans clamoring for their money back. A subscription to NFL+ starts at $7 per month, and it also includes streams of nationally broadcast regular-season games on mobile devices.
