Older Sony TVs Set to Lose Access to Netflix, Find Out If Your TV Is Impacted
More than 15 models of Sony TV are about to lose support for the world’s largest streaming service.
A set of older TVs is about to lose access to Netflix. In the same week that the streamer announced it was ending support for second and third-generation Apple TV devices, Sony began informing customers that select models of Sony BRAVIA smart TVs made in 2014 would no longer support the Netflix app as of July. I’ll lay out exactly which models are about to lose access and give you some options for continuing to stream Netflix if your device is on the list.
Key Details:
- Viewers will only be able to use the Netflix app on these devices until July 23.
- Other models of Sony TVs and Blu-Ray players lost Netflix access in February 2024.
- Audiences can snag a new smart TV or streaming device and keep streaming Netflix with ease.
Sony announced that it would end support for the Netflix app on 16 models of Sony BRAVIA smart TVs manufactured in 2014. This is likely because the latest version of the Netflix app will be incompatible with the operating system on these smart TVs, and a fix would be too expensive and time-consuming from Sony’s point of view.
Owners of these TVs will be able to stream Netflix on them until July 23, 2024. The affected models of Sony BRAVIA smart TV include:
- KDL-60W610B
- KDL-60W630B
- KDL-55X830B
- KDL-65X830B
- KDL-70X830B
- XBR-55X800B
- XBR-65X800B
- XBR-49X850B
- XBR-55X850B
- XBR-65X850B
- XBR-70X850B
- XBR-55X900B
- XBR-65X900B
- XBR-79X900B
- XBR-65X950B
- XBR-85X950B
This is the second time in recent months that Sony devices have lost support for Netflix. In February, Netflix disappeared for owners of dozens of Sony smart TVs and Blu-Ray players made between 2011 and 2013, forcing owners to seek new means to stream the service.
How Can You Keep Streaming Netflix?

If you spied your TV model on the list of devices that will no longer be compatible with Netflix, you may want to upgrade your home theater setup so that you can continue watching the streamer with no interruptions. Fortunately, you have multiple options for doing so.
The first way to ensure you have continued access to Netflix after July 23 is to purchase a connected streaming device that will plug into your TV. As long as it has an HDMI port, your Sony BRAVIA set will be compatible with a wide range of streaming players that will allow you to watch Netflix, as well as Disney+, Hulu, Max and other top streamers.
