Is it time for Tubi to add a Tubi Wrapped feature?

Is it time for Tubi to add a Tubi Wrapped feature?

Spotify’s Rewind is a fascinating look back at a user’s year in listening. Tubi should launch a similar feature.

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.

The last time Tubi offered a public update about its engagement metrics, the streamer had 100 million monthly active users, and accounted for hundreds of millions of viewing hours every month. Any way you slice it, Tubi is one of the most popular free ad-supported streaming services available.

With the number of viewers who tune into Tubi regularly to watch its large catalog of on-demand TV shows or movies, its free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels, and its original titles, it’s time for the streamer to help fans see what they’ve been watching over the course of a year. The feature we think Tubi should add is a Tubi Wrapped that shows customers their viewing habits over the past 12 months.

Spotify customers wait for their Wrapped report anxiously each year. The report tells viewers which genres and artists they’ve listened to most in the previous 12 months, and even extrapolates their listening age based on their habits. It’s a ton of fun, and it’s a favorite of every Spotify user.

Tubi could just as easily spin up a similar feature based on a user’s viewing habits. It could measure how much time is spent watching the service’s FAST channels, which genres of channel or on-demand video a fan watches most reliably, and even assign them a historical TV character based on their watching personality.

Twice per year, Netflix unveils viewing statistics for every TV show and movie in its library. But these numbers represent only viewing totals for the titles, and do not break down how much time the individual viewer spends watching shows, movies, sports, etc. HBO Max offers a more personalized view, examining watch histories and viewing patterns; this is the model I think Tubi should adopt.

Offering such a customized feature would make using Tubi feel like a more premium experience, as well. Every time a viewer tunes in, they’ll know that anything they watch on Tubi will add to the year-end profile the streamer works up for them. It would be a major distinguishing feature for Tubi as it tries to differentiate itself from other free services like The Roku Channel and Pluto TV, which is especially important given that these services share a lot of the same content.

A year-end Wrapped feature would bring more attention to Tubi and would likely increase engagement on the service past its already impressive levels. The service should consider rolling out a Wrapped for its users before the end of 2026, a move that would give it a clear advantage over its competitors.
