‘Battlestar Galactica’ titles headed to Paramount+, Pluto TV
The Paramount streamers will add multiple series and a feature film from the franchise.
Paramount+ is already home to one epic sci-fi franchise in Star Trek, but the streamer is doubling down on the genre. Next month, Paramount+ and Pluto TV will begin adding TV shows and movies from the rebooted “Battlestar Galactica” saga, giving fans of the franchise multiple ways to stream the episodes and films.
Key Details:
- So May We All!: “Battlestar Galactica” titles hit Paramount+ and Pluto TV on May 1.
- Lots of options: The kick-off miniseries, the four-season TV series, and more are included in the deal.
- One exclusive: The spin-off series “Caprica” will be on Paramount+ only.
The “Battlestar Galactica” universe is joining Paramount+ and Pluto TV starting on May 1. Both streamers will get the bulk of titles included in the licensing deal, including the 2003 miniseries that started it all, all four seasons of the show, and the 2009 movie “Battlestar Galactica: The Plan.”
The 2010 prequel series “Caprica” is also headed to Paramount+. The show ran for just one season and is set nearly 60 years before the show itself. It centers on a dramatic feud between two powerful families of the colony world of Caprica, which eventually leads to the creation of the dreaded Cylons. This series will not be available to stream on Pluto TV.
Fans of “Battlestar Galactica” are rejoicing at the news, as most of the titles in the show’s canon are not available to stream on demand. Universal Television produced the show during its original run, but “Caprica” is the only “Battlestar” title that’s currently available to stream on the NBCUniversal streamer Peacock.
The “Battlestar Galactica” miniseries and subsequent TV show star Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Tricia Helfer, Katee Sackhoff, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Grace Park, and Michael Hogan. The show follows humanity’s fight for survival against the mechanical Cylons. After the devastation of their worlds, the last remnants of humankind take to space to flee the Cylons and search for a new home.
Customers will be able to stream all of these titles with a subscription to either Paramount+ plan, starting with the Essential tier at $9 per month. Pluto TV will offer a dedicated “Battlestar Galactica” channel that streams the shows and film 24 hours per day.
