What password-sharing rules does Fubo enforce?
What password-sharing rules does Fubo enforce?
Is sharing on Fubo allowed? Or does the streamer want you to keep your Fubo account to yourself?
Live TV streaming services aren’t quite as cut-and-dry about password sharing as platforms like Netflix and Hulu are. Some live TV services allow for — or in some cases, encourage — viewers to share their login credentials with trusted friends and family to allow them to watch that plan outside the home.
If you’ve got a Fubo subscription, you might well be wondering what you are allowed to do with that account. Does Fubo give you any leeway in sharing the service outside the home, or does it want you to keep your login credentials strictly secret? We’ve got more details on the streamer’s policies here.
What you need to know about sharing passwords on Fubo
What does Fubo’s user agreement say about sharing passwords?
Fubo’s terms of service seem to deal with the subject of sharing login credentials in Section 6, Paragraph B, “Administrator Accounts.” That passage reads:
Your Account and the User identification and password for Your Account (Your “Account ID”) is personal in nature. Your Account is for Your personal use and Your User Account ID may be used only by You alone. You may not distribute or transfer Your Account or Account ID or provide a third party with the right to access Your Account or Account ID. You are solely responsible for all use of the Platform and all Content and Services through Your Account. You will ensure the security and confidentiality of Your Account ID and will notify Fubo immediately if Your Account ID is lost, stolen or otherwise compromised.
How does Fubo enforce restrictions?
Despite the stated policy, Fubo actually does allow for use of the service outside the home. Under the terms of a subscription, customers can watch Fubo on up to 10 devices connected to the home network, and three more devices not connected to that network, so long as they are mobile phones or web browsers and not connected TV players.
If you try to log into the Fubo connected TV app outside of the home, you will likely be sent a code by the streamer to verify your information. If you cannot do so, you will not be allowed to access your account. Trying to stream Fubo from too many locations at a time will result in an error message.
Can you pay to add extra members outside your home to Fubo?
No, there are no paid extra member options to allow users outside your home to watch your Fubo account at this time. Only viewers within the limits of the household restrictions, as well as the limited out-of-home devices that viewers can use, are permitted to use a paid Fubo account in someone else’s name.
