PS5 consoles are adding a selection of FAST channels.

With streaming prices continuing to rise without rest, free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels can be found in more and more places. Free streaming channels can help companies boost engagement with their various media platforms, and now one of the most popular gaming consoles in the United States is getting in on the game. PlayStation 5 consoles now include a selection of over 100 FAST channels for owners to stream.

Key Details:

  • Live now: Viewers can now watch hundreds of free streaming channels on PS5 consoles.
  • Lots of favorites: Channels include a mountain of movies, TV shows, and sports.
  • More coming: Sony says the live programming on PS5s will be continuously refreshed.

Viewers will find over 100 live channels in the new Live on PS5 tab, as well as a selection of on-demand entertainment. The launch allows PS5 owners to turn on their console, flip to the appropriate menu, and start watching immediately, without having to open a new app.

To watch FAST channels on PS5, console owners need only flip on their console and navigate to the Media tab. There, they’ll find the Live TV on PS5 icon; then, it’s a simple matter of signing in with a user’s PlayStation account to start watching.

There’s a wide selection of content rolling out on Live TV on PS5 initially. Viewers will find popular channels like MovieSphere by Lionsgate, selections dedicated to single shows like the Hell’s Kitchen and The Walking Dead channels, anime from Crunchyroll, plus news, sports, weather, and creator content.

Sony pledges that it will rotate new content into the Live TV on PS5 tab regularly, so audiences should check back often to see if an old favorite has been added. The experience will expand to Canada and other global territories in the near future. This is not the first time that Sony’s signature video game console has gotten into the streaming game. PlayStation Vue was one of the early live TV streaming services, launched by Sony in 2015, but shut down in 2020, despite generally favorable reviews from critics and customers.

Today, most smart TVs and streaming devices allow viewers to watch a selection of FAST channels, but until now, PS5 users have had to download apps like Pluto TV or Tubi to watch free streaming content. Now, they can hop right into the fun with the Live TV on PS5 experience.
