Pluto TV Welcomes 17 Fox-Affiliated News Stations, Boosting Live News Options

As the 2024 U.S. presidential election approaches, viewers will welcome the ability to stream more live news free on Pluto TV.

Pluto TV is a great way to replace the live TV experience for cord-cutters. The streamer offers hundreds of free ad-supported TV (FAST) channels in every imaginable category, from classic TV shows to contemporary movies, and even some live sports via Golazo Network and other channels. This week, Pluto has announced that it is supplementing its live news selections by bringing on 17 Fox-affiliated channels from some of America’s biggest media markets.

Key Details:

  • Fox channels from Atlanta, Chicago, New York, and more are launching on Pluto on Aug. 15.
  • Fox 6 Milwaukee will also join Pluto TV later in the month.
  • In July, Pluto added more than 20 new entertainment-themed channels.

Pluto announced that 16 of the new channels will be available on Thursday, Aug. 15. The networks will help boost the already formidable news offerings available on Pluto TV, including channels such as “CBS News 24/7,” “BBC News,” “Bloomberg TV,” “NBC News Now” and others. With the 2024 U.S. presidential election approaching fast, having more live news sources that viewers can access for free is a clear benefit for audiences.

The Fox-affiliated channels coming to Pluto TV include:

  • FOX 5 Atlanta
  • FOX 7 Austin
  • FOX 32 Chicago
  • FOX 4 Dallas | Fort Worth
  • FOX 2 Detroit
  • FOX 26 Houston
  • FOX 11 Los Angeles
  • FOX 6 Milwaukee (launches later this month)
  • FOX 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul
  • FOX 5 New York
  • FOX 35 Orlando
  • FOX 29 Philadelphia
  • FOX 10 Phoenix
  • FOX 2 San Francisco
  • FOX 13 Seattle
  • FOX 13 Tampa Bay
  • FOX 5 Washington DC

This is only the most recent programming addition for Pluto TV, which is always seeking new channel options so its audience has the widest selection of content possible. In late June, the streamer welcomed more than 20 new channels, including selections dedicated to fan-favorite shows like “The Price is Right” and “Supermarket Sweep.”

What Else is Going on With Pluto TV?

Outside of new channel additions, there’s plenty of discussion surrounding Pluto TV these days. In mid-July, its company Paramount Global reportedly entered into talks to sell the streamer back to one of its co-founders, as the company seeks to cut costs and streamline its operations.

In less positive news for Pluto, reports began to circulate in July that there was some question as to the method Pluto used to charge advertisers for commercials shown on the platform. According to some advertisers that have worked with the streamer, Pluto TV has engaged in ad duplication in order to inflate the amount of money it can charge advertisers.

Questions over Pluto’s ad practices don’t have much effect on the streamer’s viewing audience, however. Customers in many of America’s top media markets will soon find news from their local Fox station available on Pluto TV, giving them another free source for streaming their most trusted local channel.

Pluto TV

Pluto TV is a free live TV streaming service that provides more than 350 channels of live TV and thousands of on demand movies and TV shows.

Most of what you’ll find on Pluto TV qualifies as “background television.” It’s fine to keep on while you’re scrolling on your phone or cooking something in the kitchen.

Because these aren’t traditional live TV channels, it’s not a great option for live events, news, or sports, but it’s a solid choice for cord cutters who want to supplement their other services with some “comfort food” TV. You’ll find channels dedicated to “Star Trek,” “CSI,” “Jersey Shore,” “Survivor,” and “The Amazing Race.”
