Major Series Adaptation Renewals at Netflix, Prime Video
There’s more to come for two of TV’s biggest series adaptations!
Late last week, Prime Video announced a Season 2 renewal for its recent hit adaptation of “Fallout,” starring Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, and Walton Goggins. Based on the hit video game franchise of the same name, “Fallout” is set 200 years after the apocalypse, when “the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind…and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them.”
The first season of “Fallout” premiered exclusively on Prime Video on April 10, and within its first few days post-launch, the series became one of the streamer’s top three most-watched titles.
The all-star cast also features Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias, Sarita Choudhury, Michael Emerson, Leslie Uggams, Frances Turner, Dave Register, Zach Cherry, Johnny Pemberton, Rodrigo Luzzi, Annabel O’Hagan, and Xelia Mendes-Jones.

Over at Netflix, the acclaimed adaptation of “The Witcher” has received a Season 5 renewal, filming back to back with its now-in-production Season 4. However, the upcoming two seasons, which will adapt the remaining three books in the Andrzej Sapkowski fantasy series, will be the show’s last, marking an end to Geralt of Rivia’s time at the streamer.
As previously announced, the upcoming fourth season will feature new lead Liam Hemsworth, taking over the role of Geralt from Henry Cavill, who departed the series at the end of the third season. The Hemsworth-led Season 4 will follow Geralt, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allan), “who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire and finding one another again.”
