Samsung TV Plus partnering with online content creators
Samsung TV Plus partnering with online content creators
The free streamer is teaming with Mark Rober, Dhar Mann, and Michelle Khare to bring their content to a new platform.
There’s no two ways around it, younger viewers are watching an inordinate amount of video content on platforms like YouTube and TikTok. In fact, this type of viewing often outpaces that of traditional on-demand streaming platforms. However, streamers are starting to fight back following the old adage, “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.” to that effect, the free service Samsung TV Plus has announced a deal with a handful of online creators to bring their popular content to the free streaming platform.
Key Details:
- More creator channels: Samsung TV Plus is importing content channels from several creators.
- Even originals: Dhar Mann Studios will produce 13 original episodes for its new Samsung TV Plus channel.
- Where the audience is: Over 75% of viewers aged 18 to 34 watch internet-based video on their TVs.
Samsung TV Plus will soon welcome dedicated channels for videos from content creators Michelle Khare, Dhar Mann, and Mark Rober. Each of these names recently made the Time100 top creators list, and now they’re ready to make their television debut. The partnership will go even deeper with Mann. Samsung TV Plus is set to stream 13 original episodes from Dhar Mann Studios on the Dhar Mann TV channel, which will introduce his uplifting family-friendly dramas to a new audience on the biggest screen in their living room.
“This is a major milestone for us as storytellers and producers,” Mann said. “Creating original episodes for Samsung TV Plus allows us to expand the reach of our mission, and bring purposeful, uplifting stories directly into even more people’s homes. It’s a powerful new chapter—not just for our shows, but for how creators can lead on streaming.”
Viewers can find plenty of other creators on Samsung TV Plus, from the Mythical and MrBeast channels to Hot Ones, Smosh, and more. Combined subscribership to the creators now partnered with Samsung TV Plus stands at over 175 million viewers, and the streamer is betting that at least part of this audience will follow these artists to their new home.
“Samsung TV Plus is building a home for today’s top Creators on FAST, bringing their content into a premium, curated environment designed for the biggest screen in the home,” Samsung TV Plus SVP Salek Brodsky said. “This marks a new era where the most innovative and influential storytellers can reach audiences at scale in a way that elevates their voice and preserves creative intent.”
Samsung TV Plus might have a smash of an idea on its hands. A recent Samsung Ads survey found that 76% of viewers aged 25 to 34 use their TV to watch internet-based video, and the number rises to 77% of those age 18 to 24. Audiences are already flocking to these creators, and Samsung TV Plus is clearly trying to pick up as much of that audience as it can.
