PONIES

Set against the stark backdrop of 1977 Moscow, PONIES plunges into the covert world of two unassuming women. Initially dismissed as persons of no interest, these two individuals are unexpectedly recruited as CIA operatives. They embark on a perilous journey to unravel a deep-seated Cold War conspiracy, a truth their fallen husbands paid the ultimate price to conceal. This gripping narrative explores their transformation from overlooked individuals into vital intelligence assets, determined to expose the intricate web of deception that cost them everything. It is a story of resilience, espionage, and the relentless pursuit of truth within a dangerous, unforgiving world.

Created by Susanna Fogel and David Iserson, PONIES boasts an exceptional ensemble cast. Emilia Clarke takes on the pivotal role of Anya Petrova, a quick-witted librarian whose keen observation skills conceal a formidable intellect and fierce determination as she steps into the treacherous world of espionage. Haley Lu Richardson portrays Lena Volkov, a seemingly demure linguist whose extraordinary resourcefulness and adaptability become her most potent weapons in the field. Both Anya and Lena are the primary operatives, the titular PONIES, whose transformation drives the narrative. Adrian Lester appears as Director Thorne, a seasoned and enigmatic CIA handler who shrewdly orchestrates their perilous mission from afar. Artjom Gilz plays Captain Dimitry Volkov, a high-ranking KGB officer, whose own complex entanglements within the Soviet system intersect dangerously with the conspiracy the women are investigating. Nicholas Podany features as Sasha Morozov, a young, idealistic dissident whose unwitting involvement proves critically important to uncovering key pieces of the puzzle. Petro Ninovskyi rounds out the cast as Gennady Markov, a low-level bureaucrat whose overlooked connections hold dangerous, buried secrets.
