The MLB All-Star game will emanate from Kansas City, Missouri on Tuesday, July 16 at 8 p.m. ET, and Sling subscribers on the service’s Blue plan will be able to watch the game in 4K resolution in the markets that Sling provides access to Fox. Since Fox is also one of the country’s major pro and college football broadcasters, there will be tons of 4K football action to stream on Sling this fall as well.
But, more immediately, when the 2024 Olympics kick off in Paris on Friday, July 26, NBCUniversal will have coverage across all of its linear and streaming outlets, including the USA Network. Sling customers will be able to watch all of USA’s Olympic coverage in 4K at no additional cost.
As more sports get back into their seasons in the fall, Sling will also provide access to 4K broadcasts on ESPN, FS1, and more. Additionally, while it won’t launch in time for Tuesday’s All-Star game, Sling will soon make it possible to record games and events in 4K on your DVR.
To get access to Sling’s 4K broadcasts, subscribers will need to be signed up for the Sling Blue or the combined Sling Orange and Blue plans. Sling Blue costs $40 per month and Orange and Blue runs $55. However, with the streamer's current deal, you can get 50% off your first month, so that means Blue would be just $20 and both Orange and Blue would be $27.50.
Between the MLB All-Star game, postseason, and World Series; the Olympics; college and NFL football; the NBA; college basketball; U.S. Open Tennis; and more, there will be a ton of sports action available in 4K on Sling TV, mixed in with all of the other sports in regular HD. Viewers will be able to tell which broadcasts are in 4K in all of the listings. So, if you want to stream something in the ultra-high definition resolution, you will need to select the 4K version.
