As we pick our way through the last of the Thanksgiving leftovers and stir ourselves from food comas, the unpleasant reality of another Monday awaits. December has arrived, which is a sneaky good month for streaming premieres and live sports events, since programmers know many audience members have time off at this time of year.

‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ series premiere | 9 p.m. ET on Disney+
The latest live-action Star Wars series follows the tale of four young children who make a startling discovery on their seemingly sleepy planet: a starship. While exploring the vessel, they accidentally blast themselves off into the galaxy and begin an epic quest to return home once again.
Streaming exclusive series from the Star Wars universe have seen hit-or-miss reactions from audiences of late, so there’s a lot riding on the success of “Skeleton Crew.” There’s no doubt Disney would love to get the franchise back on track with more releases, but it’s got to keep audiences engaged with its newest offering.

“Pop Culture Jeopardy!” is a brand-new twist on the classic quiz show’s “answer-and-question” format that combines the academic rigor of Jeopardy! with the excitement and unpredictability of pop culture. Hosted by Colin Jost, the show will challenge players in the studio (as well as those following at home) with questions designed to stump even the biggest pop culture fans.
Contestants, playing in teams of three, will need to be experts in categories from Alternative Rock to The Avengers; Broadway to MMA; Gen Z to Zendaya as they compete in a tournament-style event for the grand prize of $300,000 and ultimate bragging rights.
