The newly-expanded College Football Playoff also starts this week, meaning there’s something to watch for everyone coming to TV screens.
That holiday feeling in the air is growing stronger and stronger. Christmas is growing ever closer, and it’s an especially challenging time of year to think about anything other than the time off that comes with the holiday season. Work and other responsibilities can seem like even more of a burden than normal during these weeks, and it’s especially good to have something new and exciting to watch to keep ahead of the boredom.
I’ve got a specially-selected lineup of new TV episodes and movies to watch this week, complete with new titles for kids, live sports, the potential finale of one of the biggest TV shows of the last decade, and much more. Check out what you can stream this week below!

‘Richard Ramirez: The Night Stalker Tapes’ limited series premiere | Peacock
In advance of the 40th anniversary of his murderous reign of terror and epic arrest, this project uses Death Row audio interviews with Ramirez as well as audio and video interviews with his family, friends, and wife — most of which have never been heard before - to explore how a perfect storm of child abuse and twisted boyhood influences enabled a troubled young man from El Paso, TX to become the infamous Night Stalker.
Watch a trailer for ‘Richard Ramirez: The Night Stalker Tapes’
These tapes offer an unsettling and thought-provoking look into the mind of a brutal serial killer and, by the end of the series, will provide significant findings to the age-old question of whether a monster is born or created - or both. The show promises to be a chilling addition to Peacock’s already-packed true crime inventory.

‘Day of the Jackal’ Season 1 finale | Peacock
Based on the Frederick Forsyth novel of the same name, “The Day of the Jackal” follows The Jackal, an unrivaled and highly elusive lone assassin, who meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer who hunts him down across Europe. Her name is Bianca Pullman, but she soon comes face-to-face with the fact that The Jackal himself is not her only quarry.
In Season 1’s penultimate episode, The Jackal admits his secret identity to his wife, who formerly had no idea about his murderous career. The MI6 investigation into his activities is closed thanks to interference from higher up, but Bianca isn’t ready to simply let go of the case just yet.

‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ streaming premiere | Max
“Joker: Folie À Deux” finds Arthur Fleck institutionalized at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love but also finds the music that’s always been inside him.
The film was admittedly one of the worst-reviewed movies of 2024 among audiences, but given the controversial nature of its predecessor, that could simply be because of expectations set that were never met. Was it really one of the worst films of the year? Now you can stream it with a Max subscription and find out for yourself.

‘Yellowstone’ Season 5 finale | Paramount Network, watch with a seven-day free trial of Philo
It all comes down to this. After the murder of John Dutton by a group of assassins, the rest of the family has to determine what to do with their assets. Most notably, the Yellowstone Ranch is up for auction, with a crew from Texas coming up to Montana to help move the process along.
Beth and Jamie Dutton are still on a collision course, as Beth has promised to kill her scheming brother more than once. Will she carry out that threat? Will the show end with Season 5, or will it have room to continue on with new episodes after the finale? All those questions will be answered on Sunday night!
