Here’s 3 streamers to keep in May 2025, and 2 you can cancel
Max is still a must-have in the month of May, but which other streamers do we think you need to have?
With the calendar flipping past April, we are already one-third of the way through 2025. With May officially here, it might be time for cord-cutters to reevaluate their monthly entertainment budget before we head into summer. Entertainment spending is dropping, and consumers are looking for more and more ways to save on streaming.
With that in mind, we’ve assembled a list of streaming services you should definitely hold onto in May 2025, and a couple that you can probably afford to cancel in order to help keep your spending under control!
Which streamers should you keep in May 2025, and which should you let go?
Streamers to keep in May 2025
Max

Max frequently appears on our list of streamers to keep month-to-month, and May is no exception. “The Last of Us” Season 2 wraps up on May 25, which means you’ll need the streaming service until at least that time. While Season 2 of “The Last of Us” was shorter than Season 1, it will set up a supersized third season of the post-apocalyptic drama adapted from the popular video game series.
The Oscar-winning film “The Brutalist” makes its streaming debut at long last on Max on May 16. This A24 movie follows a visionary architect and his wife as they flee from Europe to America, and how their lives are changed forever when a wealthy client takes them on.

Finally, the 2025 NBA and NHL playoffs continue through the month of May. All games from both leagues appearing on TNT will also be streamed simultaneously on Max’s Bleacher Report Sports add-on, which is available at no extra cost to all viewers with an ad-free plan.
Peacock

Peacock is another must-have in our eyes for the month of May, and the newest season of “Poker Face” is a big reason why. The show is very popular amongst The Streamable staff; it stars Natasha Lyonne as Charlie, a woman with the unique ability of being able to tell when another person is lying without fail. As she travels the country, Charlie finds people from all different walks of life with one thing in common: they need her help.

There are some key live events that make Peacock a must-keep in May, as well. Start with the Eurovision Song Contest, the phenomenon that has taken the entire world by storm, which starts on May 13. Fans of horse racing will also want the service in May, as the 2025 Kentucky Derby takes place on Saturday, May 3.
Paramount+

CBS is the most-watched broadcast network of them all, and its next-day streams of primetime shows debut on Paramount+. That means viewers will be able to watch season finales of shows like “The Equalizer,” “Ghosts,” “Watson,” and more on Paramount+ this month.
In addition, Paramount+ will offer the 18th season premiere of “Criminal Minds: Evolution,” and will also debut a new season of “RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars” on May 9. Add in a new season of “The Chi” on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME, and this streamer is clearly too good to dismiss in the month of May.
Streamers to cancel in May 2025
Disney+
Don’t get me wrong here; the second season finale of “Andor” will be must-see TV for me, particularly as it will also be the show’s final installment. Despite the difficulty in improving on the show’s formidable first season, “Andor” Season 2 has surpassed it in just about every way I can think of.
Outside of that, however, Disney+’s list of new content in May is pretty uninspiring. Once “Andor” rolls out its final episodes on May 13, you can safely let the streamer go for a little the next month, perhaps until “Ironheart” premieres in late June.
Get Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for just $16.99 a month ($14 savings).
Prime Video
With apologies to fans of “The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy,” the release schedule on Prime Video this month isn’t exactly eye-popping. There are no new episodes of marquee Prime Video titles like “The Boys,” “Reacher,” or “The Wheel of Time” headed to the streamer this month, and you can wait until a little later to pick Prime Video back up if you need to cancel another subscription in May.
