What subtitle options are available on Tubi?
As a free streaming service, Tubi doesn’t offer the same amount of subtitle choices as paid streamers do.
Tubi is continuing to move past other free streaming services in terms of audience size. As of June 2025, Tubi had more than 100 million monthly active users, and the depth of content available on the streaming service is truly impressive, including original content, live sports, and many more choices.
But with all that content available, does Tubi also offer subtitles? What kind of options are available if you want to watch shows and movies on Tubi with captions? I’ve got the answers to those questions, as well as simple instructions for turning on subtitles on Tubi below.
Everything you need to know about watching Tubi with subtitles
How to turn on subtitles with Tubi
Turning on subtitles with Tubi is a relatively simple process. The first thing you’ll want to do is find the piece of content you want to watch, then start playback. Once this is done, you’ll want to locate the subtitles button within the playback controls; on the web and on the Tubi smart TV app, this button is found on the bottom-right of the screen. On the Tubi mobile app it’s at the top-right.
Just click the button, then click English to turn on subtitles and start watching the show or movie of your choice.

What are the language options available with Tubi subtitles?
I checked with around 10 different titles on Tubi, and I saw the same thing on each one: the streamer only offers English-language subtitles. I wasn’t expecting the streamer to offer as many choices as a service like Netflix or other paid platforms, but the offering of solely English was a little surprising to me.
Can you change the appearance of subtitles on Tubi?
Yes, Tubi allows you to change the visual settings of subtitles. You can change font sizes, turn the background on or off, alter the font of the letters themselves, change the styling, the background color, and the window color of your captions on Tubi, proving it has more options for changing the appearance of its captions than it has languages.
