From “Star Wars” to The Beatles and The Beach Boys, everything old is new again this month at Disney+! The streamer is feeling nostalgic and is getting ready for several major premieres this May, including the remaster of the infamous 1969 Beatles documentary “Let It Be” and the premieres of new documentaries on The Beach Boys and visionary Jim Henson.
Disney+’s biggest premiere this month, though, is an international affair: the long-awaited new season of “Doctor Who,” starring Ncuti Gatwa as the recently regenerated Fifteenth Doctor and Millie Gibson as his interdimensional companion Ruby Sunday.

“Star Wars: Tales of the Empire” Premiere | Saturday, May 4
May the Fourth be with you. The latest “Star Wars” series and the second installment of the critically acclaimed “Tales” series (following 2022’s “Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi”) journeys deep into the Galactic Empire through the eyes of two warriors on separate paths and in different eras: young Morgan Elsbeth (voiced by Diana Lee Inosanto), who is navigating “the expanding Imperial world toward a path of vengeance,” and former Jedi Barriss Offee (Meredith Salenger), who is doing “what she must do to survive a rapidly changing galaxy. The six-episode series also features Rya Kihlstedt (Lyn aka Fourth Sister), Wing T. Chao (Wing), Lars Mikkelsen (Thrawn), Jason Isaacs (Grand Inquisitor), and Matthew Wood (General Grievous).

“Let It Be” | Wednesday, May 8
Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s infamous 1969 The Beatles documentary has been out of circulation for decades, but Peter Jackson couldn’t just let it be. Following 2021’s groundbreaking docuseries “The Beatles: Get Back,” the updated “Let It Be” will feature original film footage remastered by Jackson’s Park Road Post Production, plus remastered audio, to give an all-new look and sound to the ill-fated documentary, originally overshadowed by the band’s breakup one year later.

“Doctor Who” Premiere | Friday, May 10
Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor is officially behind the TARDIS controls with companion Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) by his side in the long-awaited first episode in the new international Disney+ era of “Who.” In addition to the most recent Christmas special “The Church on Ruby Road,” the first two episodes of the season (“Space Babies” and “Devil’s Chord”) will premiere on May 10, followed by a new episode every Friday. Streaming will be available beginning at 7 p.m. ET.

From humble beginnings to global superstardom, the new documentary tracks the Beach Boys’ history in a celebration of the legendary band, featuring never-before-seen footage and interviews from current and former band members, including Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, Bruce Johnston, Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Blondie Chaplin, and Ricky Fataar, as well as interviews from fellow music legends including Lindsey Buckingham, Janelle Monáe, and Ryan Tedder.
