“Blindspotting” | Monday, Jan. 1
Childhood friends Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal do triple duty as writers, producers, and stars of the 2018 dramedy about a parolee (Diggs) with three days left on his sentence, only to have him witness a police shooting that threatens to ruin his friendship with his short-tempered and restless best friend (Casal). Janina Gavankar, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Ethan Embry, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Wayne Knight, Justin Chu Cary, and more make up the ensemble of the film, which got a too-short-lived spinoff series starring Cephas Jones

The Nordic black comedy was a mainstay of 2014’s Best Of lists, with Johannes Bah Kuhnke starring as Tomas, a Swedish businessman staying at a luxury resort in the French Alps with his wife Ebba (Lisa Loven Kongsli) and young children Vera and Harry (Clara Wettergren and Vincent Wettergren, respectively) when an avalanche causes him to prioritize his safety over that of his family’s.

“Headhunters” | Monday, Jan. 1
The Norwegian action thriller is the highest-grossing film in its country’s history. Aksel Hennie stars as Roger Brown, Norway’s most successful headhunter, who supports his lavish lifestyle by stealing paintings from his clients while his partner, Ove (Eivind Sander) deactivates security at the victims’ homes from his surveillance job, allowing Roger to swap the art for a counterfeit. Soon, he is introduced to a new job prospect (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) who is in possession of a valuable painting and sets out on a perilous mission to steal it. Synnøve Macody Lund also co-stars with Julie Ølgaard, Reidar Sørensen, and more.

“Eighth Grade” | Saturday, Jan. 13
Bo Burnham knows a thing or two about anxiety, and his directorial debut is the back-to-school gift every middle schooler should get: an accurate depiction of the social anxieties and other agonies of growing up introverted but wanting to be popular, especially now, when social media rules all. Elsie Fisher stars (and shines) in her breakthrough role as Kayla, a teen girl just trying to survive the last week of her disastrous eighth-grade year before leaving to start high school, opposite Josh Hamilton, Emily Robinson, Jake Ryan, Cathrine Oliviere, Luke Prael, Daniel Zolghadri, Fred Hechinger, Imani Lewis, and more.
