KiKi Layne and Stephan James lead the cast as Tish and Fonny a devoted couple who have been friends since childhood who dream of a future together but whose plans are derailed when Fonny is arrested for a crime he did not commit. “If Beale Street Could Talk” also stars Regina King, Teyonah Parris, Brian Tyree Henry, Colman Domingo, and others.

“Paddington 2” | Thursday, Feb. 1

The “Godfather” of heartwarming comedies based on children’s books, “Paddington 2” joins the pantheon of sequels that are widely considered to be better than the original. In the return, the beloved anthropomorphic bear has been framed and imprisoned for a burglary he didn’t commit, and he and the rest of the Brown family and friends must find the real culprit to prove Paddington’s innocence. Ben Whishaw is back to voice the title bear opposite new and returning cast members including Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Hugh Grant, Brendan Gleeson, Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin, Julie Waters, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi, and more.

“When Harry Met Sally” | Thursday, Feb. 1

Nora Ephron and Rob Reiner’s rom-com follows the title duo (played by Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan) from the time they meet in Chicago and share a drive to New York City through 12 years of chance encounters, finding out if men and women can ever be just friends for that long. The Oscar nominee, which also features Carrie Fisher, Bruno Kirby, Steven Ford, Lisa Jane Persky, Michelle Nicastro, and more, is ranked 23rd on AFI’s list of the top comedy films in American cinema (and has been helping Katz’s Delicatessen bring in business for decades, if it ever needed it).

“The Lighthouse” | Thursday, Feb. 1

Follow the light. Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson co-star in Robert Eggers’ (“The Witch”) black-and-white genre-bender as a pair of 19th-century lighthouse keepers in turmoil after being marooned at a remote New England outpost by a wild storm. The (nearly) two-hander from A24 was nominated for several awards, including a deserved Best Cinematography nod at the Oscars.

“20 Feet From Stardom” | Thursday, Feb. 29

Here are your background singers. Morgan Neville takes a look at stardom from the back of the stage in the Oscar-winning documentary. Combining archival footage and new interviews, the project details the behind-the-scenes and behind-the-headliner work of Darlene Love, Merry Clayton, Lisa Fischer, Judith Hill, Jo Lawry, Claudia Lennear, Tata Vega, and more. The film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress last year, the eighth film ever to be designated in its first year of eligibility.
