The 7 best shows to stream on STARZ right now

STARZ has a lot more than movies, including royal drama, crime sagas, and one very juicy Mozart rivalry.

With a background in film and branded content, he covers sports and entertainment with sharp insight and creativity. A longtime Oilers fan, he’s still holding out hope for a Stanley Cup run.
These are the top 7 TV shows streaming on STARZ as of May, 2026.

When I think STARZ, I think big movies. And honestly, that’s a compliment to the movie library more than it is a diss to the TV offering. So what does the TV side have? In short, some really interesting stuff you won’t find in the same kind of mix on other streamers. Think royal chaos, crime families, complicated romances, power struggles, and people making terrible decisions in beautiful costumes or very dangerous rooms — like prestige TV with a serious edge. So if you’re wondering what to watch next, here are the seven best shows streaming on STARZ right now.

Top 7 TV shows streaming on STARZ right now:

No. 7: ‘The White Princess’ (2017) | Historical drama

“The White Princess” may be changing my mind about royal dramas, in part because I love Jodie Comer. This show’s got forced marriage, family grudges, backroom plotting, and Comer quietly figuring out how to survive in a court where everyone is using everyone else.

The show picks up after the Wars of the Roses, with Elizabeth of York pushed into marriage with Henry VII as a way to unite York and Lancaster. Very romantic, obviously. Except not really, because Lizzie and Henry start as political enemies who don’t trust each other at all. And that’s what makes it fun. This isn’t a soft-focus fairy tale about becoming queen — it’s about a young woman stuck inside a power move and slowly learning how to turn that position into power of her own.

The story of Elizabeth of York, the White Queen’s daughter, and her marriage to the Lancaster victor, Henry VII. Based on the Philippa Gregory book of the same name.

No. 6: ‘Dublin Murders’ (2019) | Crime drama

“Dublin Murders” is the darkest show on this list, so maybe don’t make it your dinner show unless “haunted forest and unresolved trauma” makes you hungry. Based on Tana French’s “Dublin Murder Squad” novels, the series follows detectives Rob Reilly and Cassie Maddox as they investigate the murder of a young girl found in the woods outside Dublin.

The case hits way too close to home because those same woods connect to a childhood mystery that still hangs over Rob. So yes, there’s a murder investigation, but this isn’t a clean case-of-the-week procedural. It’s gloomy, psychological, and full of dread, with two detectives carrying way too much into a case that keeps getting under their skin.

Dublin Murders

October 14, 2019

Two detectives are dispatched to investigate the murder of a young girl on the outskirts of Dublin, but as the case of the missing children intensifies, both are forced to confront the darkness that lies in their past.

No. 5: ‘Magic City’ (2012) | Period crime drama

“Magic City” is pure style. Set in Miami Beach in 1959, the show follows Ike Evans, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, as he runs the glamorous Miramar Playa Hotel, where celebrities, politicians, mobsters, CIA types, anti-Castro forces, and wealthy guests all seem to overlap. The problem is that keeping the hotel afloat means making a deal with mob boss Ben “The Butcher” Diamond, which is not exactly the kind of business relationship that comes with clean paperwork and good vibes.

What works is the contrast. Everything looks gorgeous on the surface: suits, cocktails, hotel rooms, poolside glamour, Miami heat. Underneath, it’s all pressure, debt, violence, and family stress. And there’s never a dull moment watching Jeffrey Dean Morgan try to hold this beautiful empire together.

March 30, 2012

Set in 1959 Miami, Florida shortly after the Cuban Revolution, Magic City tells the story of Ike Evans, the owner of Miami’s most glamorous hotel, the Miramar Playa. Evans is forced to make an ill-fated deal with Miami mob boss Ben Diamond to ensure the success of his glitzy establishment.

No. 4: ‘The Spanish Princess’ (2019) | Historical drama

“The Spanish Princess” gives Catherine of Aragon the center-stage treatment. It follows Catherine as she arrives in England to marry Arthur, Prince of Wales, only for everything to fall apart when Arthur dies and her future suddenly gets very uncertain. From there, she has to fight for her place at court, protect her claim, and eventually move toward the man who becomes Henry VIII.

The show has all the good period-drama stuff: romance, grief, ambition, betrayal, family pressure, and people saying one thing in public while plotting something totally different in private. It’s less museum-grade Tudor lesson, more bold royal soap about a woman refusing to become a footnote.

The beautiful Spanish princess, Catherine of Aragon, navigates the royal lineage of England with an eye on the throne.

No. 3: ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ (2021) | Crime drama

“Power Book III: Raising Kanan” might be the best “Power” spin-off because it doesn’t feel like it’s just filling in backstory. Yes, it’s an origin story for Kanan Stark, the character played by 50 Cent in the original series, but the real engine is his mother, Raq. Patina Miller is ridiculous in this role, and I mean that as the highest compliment.

Set in 1990s Queens, the show follows young Kanan as he gets pulled deeper into his mother’s drug business and starts becoming the person “Power” fans already know. But the reason it works is that it’s not just about crime. It’s about family, inheritance, ambition, and what happens when your mother loves you and poisons you at the same time. You don’t have to be a “Power” obsessive to get hooked either, but if you are, this one adds real weight to the whole universe.

Set in South Jamaica, Queens, in 1991, this prequel to “Power” revolves around the coming of age of Kanan Stark.

No. 2: ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ (2025) | Romantic drama

“Outlander: Blood of My Blood” knows exactly why people love the “Outlander” world, then basically adds more romance, more longing, more Scotland, and more people being separated by forces way bigger than them. The prequel follows two love stories: Jamie Fraser’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, in 18th-century Scotland, and Claire Fraser’s parents, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, around World War I.

I really like the dual structure because it makes it feel bigger than a simple origin story. You get clan politics, Highland danger, and forbidden-romance energy on one side, then wartime heartbreak and time-bending mystery on the other. If you’ve missed the early-Scotland feel of “Outlander,” this is basically STARZ handing you a fresh cup of exactly what you ordered.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood

August 8, 2025

From the battlefields of World War I to the rugged Highlands of 18th century Scotland, two fated couples must defy the forces that seek to tear them apart, unfolding in surprising and unforeseen ways in this romantic saga that unfolds across time.

No. 1: ‘Amadeus’ (2025) | Historical drama

“Amadeus” is here because the premise still rules, and jealousy is one of the best engines for drama. Based on Peter Shaffer’s famous play, the series stars Will Sharpe as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Paul Bettany as Antonio Salieri, turning their fictionalized rivalry into a story about genius, envy, faith, ego, and artistic obsession.

Salieri is respected, disciplined, and serious. Mozart shows up vulgar, messy, impossible, and touched by something Salieri can’t explain — that’s the wound. Instead of admiring the genius in front of him, Salieri starts to rot from the inside. You get the music, the wigs, the opulence, and the famous rivalry, but the real hook is emotional: what do you do when the universe gives someone else the thing you begged for? Yeah, that’s brutal. And it’s why “Amadeus” lands at No. 1.
