In “Toy Story 5,” most of Andy’s old toys are still loving life. Bonnie Anderson takes good care of them, but when her mom gets her a Lilypad tablet computer, the toys meet tech for the first time — and it’s not exactly a cozy relationship. Is playtime about to change forever?
“Toy Story 5” has been a certified hit with critics and audiences both. The film scores a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, with 95% of audiences also registering their approval. The film also boasts a 73 score on Metacritic, indicating “generally favorable” reviews. During its first weekend in cinemas, it grossed $312 million worldwide, another major hit for Pixar and the Toy Story franchise.

When will ‘Toy Story 5’ stream at home?
We know for sure which streaming service will offer “Toy Story 5” when the film is no longer exclusive to cinemas and premium video-on-demand (PVOD) services that allow customers to rent movies that are still in theaters. Disney+ will serve as home for “Toy Story 5,” just as it does for the rest of the films in the franchise.
Fans who want to wait for “Toy Story 5” to hit streaming likely have a long delay in store. The movie probably won’t take as long as “Avatar: Fire and Ash” to reach Disney+; that film will arrive on the streamer on Wednesday after a wait of six months. But I also think “Toy Story 5” will take a longer theatrical journey than “Inside Out 2,” the last major Pixar sequel, which streamed on Disney+ after only 67 days in theaters.
With that in mind, I’ll officially predict that “Toy Story 5” will stream on Disney+ on Wednesday, Oct. 14 — 117 days after its initial theatrical release. Until then, fans who are insistent on streaming the film will be able to marathon the first four “Toy Story” movies to their hearts’ content with a Disney+ subscription.
