Max Releases New “The Penguin” Teaser

The Penguin has returned to Gotham for more upstanding mayor stuff. Max has released a new teaser for its upcoming DC Studios limited series “The Penguin,” starring Colin Farrell.

Developed by showrunner Lauren LeFranc and based on characters created for DC by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, the eight-episode series is a spin-off from Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” and explores Oz Cobb, a.k.a. The Penguin’s rise to power in Gotham City’s criminal underworld.

In addition to Farrell, “The Penguin” will also star Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown, James Madio, Scott Cohen, Michael Zegen, Carmen Ejogo, Theo Rossi, François Chau, David H. Holmes, Craig Walker, Mark Strong, and more.

Netflix Releases Simone Biles Docuseries Trailer

Call it a comeback. Ahead of the Paris 2024, all eyes are on Simone Biles, and before the torch is officially lit, fans will get unprecedented access to the world-class athlete.

Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming multi-part docuseries “Simone Biles Rising.” Directed by Katie Walsh and produced by Religion of Sports (“Simone Vs Herself”), the docuseries will follow the seven-time Olympic medalist after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she was one of the biggest stories going into the Games… and leaving it. Withdrawing from the competition to focus on her mental health, Biles has since put in the hard work to address her traumas and self-doubt and to further her journey as one of the world’s most dominant athletes, “redefining what it means to be a champion on her own terms.”

The new project, which will premiere in two parts, will include an inside look at Biles’ video diaries and more personal archives as it details the Olympian’s fight to return to competition.

Part One of “Simone Biles Rising” will be released on Wednesday, July 17, with the second half planned to be released later this year.


Trailer for Final Season of “Snowpiercer” Released

Snowpiercer” is rolling toward its terminus. AMC has released the official trailer for the fourth and final season of the critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller series.

Adapted from Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette’s graphic novel series and Bong Joon-ho's film of the same name, “Snowpiercer” takes place seven years after the world becomes a frozen wasteland where the remnants of humanity reside on a perpetually moving train that circles the globe. Season 4 will take place nine months after the Season 3 finale that split the population into two factions: those who stay safe behind and those who venture out into the world of New Eden.

The series stars Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Sean Bean, Rowan Blanchard, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Sam Otto, Chelsea Harris, Mike O’Malley, Roberto Urbina, and Sheila Vand with Clark Gregg and Michael Aronov joining the final season.

Season 4 of “Snowpiercer” will premiere on AMC on Sunday, July 21 at 9 p.m. ET and will be available to stream on AMC+.


Apple TV+ Debuts “Lady in the Lake” Trailer

Apple TV+ has revealed the trailer for its highly anticipated limited series “Lady in the Lake,” starring Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram.

Created and directed by Alma Har’el and based on the novel by Laura Lipman of the same name, the seven-part series takes place in Baltimore, in 1966, after the disappearance of a young girl on Thanksgiving grips the city. Maddie Schwartz (Portman), a Jewish housewife looking to shed her secret past and reinvent herself as a journalist, and Cleo Johnson (Ingram), a mother navigating the political underbelly of Black Baltimore, see their lives “converge on a fatal collision course” and Maddie quickly becomes obsessed with unraveling the mystery of two separate killings.

Also starring the series will be Y’lan Noel, Brett Gelman, Byron Bowers, Noah Jupe, Josiah Cross, Mikey Madison and Pruitt Taylor Vince, Sean Ringgold, Mike Epps, Selema Masekela, Ronnie Gene Blevins, David Corenswet, Angela Robinson, Katherine Winter, and more.

“Lady in the Lake” will make its global debut with its first two episodes on Friday, July 19, followed by new episodes every Friday through Aug. 23.


Max Original “Breaking New Ground” Releases Trailer

The foundation is laid for the upcoming Max Original “Breaking New Ground,” which has debuted its official trailer a week out from its premiere.

Produced by Scott Brothers Entertainment and OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, the Max Original follows Broadway performer and The Broadway Collective founder/artistic director, entrepreneur, and educator Robert Hartwell through the process and challenges of transforming a 200-year-old Massachusetts house with a complicated history into a home filled with love.”

The new six-episode “Breaking New Ground” will debut on Thursday, June 27, followed by one new episode weekly through Aug. 1.


New Winnie-The-Pooh Movies and Series Are Coming to Amazon

Amazon and Kartoon Studios have hit the honeypot. Through a plan two years in the marking, Amazon Studios and Prime Video will produce and distribute multiple Winnie-the-Pooh films and series through [Kartoon Channel!], the subscription kids network distributed through Prime Video.

Kartoon Studios has reportedly been working on the package since the original Winnie-the-Pooh books by A.A. Milne and E.H. Shepard entered the public domain in 2022. The distribution plan currently includes five-holiday specials, an animated holiday film, and a 104-episode TV series that will be rolled out over four years. The first project will be the holiday film “A Hundred Acre Christmas,” which has begun pre-production and is expected to launch on Christmas Day 2025.

Only viewers who subscribe to Kartoon Channel! through Prime Video will be able to access the new projects when they are released. Rollout on other platforms, such as Apple TV+, is expected to follow.
