Tubi launches program to bring more YouTube content to platform
Tubi for Creators will try to accelerate efforts to bring more social video content to the streamer.
YouTube is the most-used streaming platform of them all, so why not lean into its popularity? That’s the approach that Tubi appears to be taking. The free ad-supported streaming service has announced the launch of a new program called Tubi for Creators, which is aimed at accelerating the addition of content from digital creators to its library.
Key Details:
- TubiTube: Tubi will welcome content from six digital creators to kick off the program.
- Strong numbers: YouTube accounts for more total TV watched than any on-demand streamer.
- Not just Tubi: Other platforms are leveraging the power of YouTube to grow audiences as well.
Tubi for Creators is “designed to accelerate Tubi’s investment in brigning more original stories from talented creators” to the service. It encompasses the previously-launched Stubio, and will see six content creators bring their programming to the service to join Tubi’s already prodigious library.
The content migrating from YouTube to Tubi thanks to the program includes the Candian YouTube duo Dan and Riya, the multihyphenate entertainer FunnyMike, videos from Jubilee, scripted content creator Kinigra Deon, Mythical Chef Josh Scherer and his series “Last Meals,” and Watcher from founders Ryan Bergara, Shane Madej, and Steven Lim.
“We’re listening to our viewers and recognize their desire for more stories that reflect culture and talent from the digital world,” CEO of Tubi Anjali Sud said. “As the home for free, premium entertainment, Tubi is uniquely poised to bring the creator economy to Hollywood and expand the pathways for creators to succeed in long-form storytelling. Rich has spent his career in video partnering and supporting creators, and I’m excited for him to accelerate our efforts to help more storytellers find their audience and bring more unique stories to our fans.”
It’s hardly a surprise to see Tubi make an effort to reach out to the YouTube audience. That audience has continued to grow; in May 2025, YouTube accounted for 12.5% of all TV watched in the United States, the most of any streaming service by far. Tubi can hardly be blamed for thinking that audiences would be ripe for skimming to try to add to its monthly active user base of 100 million viewers.
Other streaming services are trying to leverage the popularity of YouTube for their benefit, as well. Netflix and Disney+ have both seen good results from offering content also found on YouTube, as they extend a hand to viewers who otherwise might be content to spend their time exclusively on the social video platform.
Tubi
Tubi is a free video streaming service that includes on-demand access to 200,000+ movies and TV episodes - more than any other streaming service. Its ad breaks are shorter and less frequent than most free services. Fox executives have called their service “TV on steroids.”
