Tubi jumps to 97 million monthly active users in 2024

The free streaming service continues to impress with its growing audience.

Tubi continues to grow its monthly active user base and viewing hours

Tubi continues to make its case as the best free streaming service available. The ad-supported platform last announced that it had 78 million monthly active users in March 2024, and less than a year later that number has grown precipitously. As announced on Monday, Tubi now claims 97 million monthly active users, an increase of nearly 20 million over the course of the year’s final nine months.

Key Details:

  • Tubi’s viewing hours over the course of 2024 grew to 10 billion.
  • Nearly one in four viewers watched a Tubi original last year.
  • The streamer claims to have the world’s largest collection of TV episodes and movies.

Monday’s report from Tubi showed that not only did it have 97 million monthly active users, but it also accumulated 10 billion viewing hours total over the course of 2024. For comparison, Roku announced in August that it had 83.6 million monthly active users for The Roku Channel.

Viewers are increasingly attracted to Tubi’s original content, as well. The streamer says that it now has more than 300 exclusive original titles and that nearly one out of every four customers has watched at least one of these shows or movies.

“Tubi’s momentum is growing as audiences increasingly value a premium entertainment experience that is also 100% free, fun and reflective of culture,” CEO of Tubi Anjali Sud said. “Our strategy is simple yet powerful: put viewers first by offering unique stories from unique storytellers, a vast selection of content to choose from and a delightful experience across devices. We let our viewers guide us and obsess over their engagement, and we are seeing the results.”

Tubi claims that it has the largest collection of TV shows and movies in the world, with more than 275,000 TV episodes and movies in its catalog. Its young adult romance “Sidelined: The QB and Me” brought in the most new Tubi viewers of any title in the streamer’s history.

Tolerance for ad-supported content is continuing to grow among viewers as streaming ads continue to show up in more and more places. Viewers are willing to accept ads if they mean a lower price, and Tubi offers its content at the lowest price of all, which helps explain its surge in popularity over the course of 2024.
