Does AMC+ have strict password-sharing rules?
Streamers are a bit all over the map when it comes to enforcing password-sharing rules, these days. Where does AMC+ land?
AMC+ keeps things casual in a lot of ways, which goes well with its starting price tag of just $7 per month. The service allows viewers to watch the content of multiple streaming services with an AMC+ account, and it also offers monthly or annual subscription plans, with or without ads.
Across the streaming industry, however, viewers are being rudely awakened to the fact that streaming services are coming down hard on password sharing. What about AMC+? Does it do the same, or does it keep things breezy with its password-sharing rules? We’ve got the lowdown here.
What you need to know about password sharing on AMC+
Does AMC+ prohibit password sharing?
Yes, the AMC streaming terms of service officially prohibit viewers from sharing passwords with non-paid customers. It uses more or less the standard language that other streaming platforms employ to bar customers from sharing their login credentials.
The terms of service read:
Your account is personal to you, and you may not transfer it to any other party. You are responsible for protecting and maintaining the confidentiality of your User Credentials. You may be responsible and liable for access to or use of the Services—including uses that may incur fees—by any person or entity using your User Credentials, whether or not you have authorized such access or use. We are not responsible or liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to maintain the confidentiality of your User Credentials. You must immediately notify us if and when you become aware of, or reasonably suspect, any unauthorized use of your User Credentials.
Does AMC+ strictly enforce password-sharing rules?
While the AMC+ terms of service do explicitly forbid the sharing of passwords, there are not currently widespread reports of the streaming service enforcing those rules strictly. It appears no viewers have been warned about losing access to their accounts as punishment for sharing their credentials.
Many streaming services have gone so far as to remind viewers that they’re being tracked when someone logs in outside their home; Netflix is consistent with its reminders that it is not intended to be shared outside of a single household, for example. But so far, AMC+ isn’t cracking down that hard.
How many simultaneous streams does AMC+ allow?
With five simultaneous streams allowed at once, AMC+ is a top option for families with multiple adult-age viewers to enjoy. However, AMC+ is intended to be watched only inside the home of the customer who pays for the actual account.
