What are Disney+’s password-sharing rules?
What are Disney+’s password-sharing rules?
Disney+ has some rules about sharing the service outside the home that don’t feel all that magical.
Disney+ is fun for the whole family, but the streaming service is meant to be enjoyed in one household per account. Disney doesn’t have as generous a sharing policy as some other streamers do; while you can watch up to four devices simultaneously with Disney+, you are not meant to enjoy the account of someone who doesn’t live in your home.
How does Disney+ enforce its password-sharing restrictions? Is the streamer pretty loose with the rules, or does it crack down hard on any violations? Read more about Disney’s password-sharing restrictions here.

What does the Disney+ Subscriber Agreement say about password sharing?
In the Disney+ Subscriber Agreement, password sharing is covered by Section 2, paragraph M. It says:
Unless otherwise permitted by your Service Tier, you may not share your subscription outside of your household. “Household” means the collection of devices associated with your primary personal residence that are used by the individuals who reside therein. If you are subscribed to multiple Services, your Household will be determined based on usage across all Services to which you are subscribed. Additional usage rules may apply for certain Service Tiers.
How does Disney+ enforce password-sharing rules?
Disney+ isn’t as strict as Netflix in its password-sharing restrictions — at least, not yet. When you log in on a new device outside the main Disney+ subscriber household, an email notification is sent to the account owner. If this happens enough in quick succession, or a user signs in from the same location away from the main household multiple times, Disney may send a user a one-time passcode in order to verify that they are the ones using the account.
Can Disney+ cancel your account if you share passwords?
Yes, technically Disney+ has the right to cancel your subscription and ban you from using its service if you share your password. However, there are no widespread reports of Disney+ banning viewers for sharing login information, and it likely won’t do so in any organized manner except as a last resort.
Can you share Disney+ outside your home legally?
There is a way to share your Disney+ account with someone who lives outside your home: paying for an extra member. Extra members get their own profile and can watch Disney+ in their own household. Adding an extra member costs $7 per month on the ad-supported Disney+ Basic plan, or $10 per month for a Premium plan.
It’s important to note that currently, the extra member feature is not available on Disney Bundle plans. It can only be used on the Disney+ service, so if you have a bundle plan, you will not be able to share it outside your home within the constraints of the Disney+ Subscriber Agreement.
