Is Pluto TV equipped with any parental controls?
Is Pluto TV equipped with any parental controls?
Pluto TV doesn’t charge for the use of its video library, but does that mean it has no parental guardrails on its content?
As Pluto TV is owned by Paramount, it actually has a pretty good selection of kids’ content to enjoy. The streamer has titles like “The Rugrats Movie” and many more on demand, as well as a large selection of free streaming channels dedicated to kids’ programming. Since it’s free, parents probably see Pluto TV as a good alternative to paid services that can cost $10 per month or more to offer shows and movies for kids.
But if kids are going to be watching Pluto TV regularly without supervision, parents have to know the streamer has parental controls to feel safe. Does the streamer offer such controls? Learn more about how to watch Pluto TV with parental controls here.
How to use parental controls on Pluto TV
What parental controls does Pluto TV offer?
Pluto TV doesn’t offer as strict controls on content as other streaming services do, but it does have options to keep kids away from titles they shouldn’t see. To use parental controls on Pluto:
- Click here to go to the Pluto TV website.
- Log into your account.
- Find your profile icon in the top-right corner, and click Manage Account.
- Scroll down to Kids Mode.
- Turn on Kids Mode, or set a PIN.
Kids Mode is a basic form of parental control to be sure, but it’s certainly better than no controls at all. Click to expand.
Kids Mode is really the only way to ensure all adult-oriented content is locked out on Pluto TV. Unfortunately, there is no way to customize the age range of the content you want to allow, or to pick out particular titles that are or aren’t OK for the kids to watch.
What does setting a PIN do on Pluto TV
Setting a PIN on Pluto TV lets you create a four-digit password that prevents a user from exiting Kids Mode. If you’re going to let your child watch Pluto TV unsupervised, setting a PIN to ensure they can’t switch Kids Mode off when you’re not looking is a must-take step. Just use the instructions above to find the PIN setting and create your own.
