Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West-Texas and a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs, the series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires that are fueling a boom so big it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.

If you loved ‘Landman,’ check out ‘Succession’

One of the hallmarks of “Landman” was the behind-the-scenes politicking that occurs in a multi-billion dollar industry like oil drilling. If that’s what attracted you to the show, you’ll definitely want to check out “Succession” on the HBO streaming service Max.

“Succession” is the tale of the Roy family, whose patriarch Logan (Brian Cox) is the head of a global media conglomerate Waystar RoyCo. Logan wants to retire at some point, but he has to figure out what to do with the business he built with his own hands. His children Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Roman (Kieran Culkin), and Shiv (Sarah Snook) all want it for themselves, but how far will they go to actually get their hands on it?

The answer to that question may shock viewers as they proceed through the series, as it becomes clearer and clearer that the allure of power is overwhelming for each of the kids. It became one of the most popular shows on HBO during its four-season run for a good reason; it’s darkly comedic, and probably offers a more realistic portrayal of family drama in big business than any other TV series to date.
