How to use Philo's unlimited Cloud DVR feature.

With Philo’s balance of a lower price with a great selection of live entertainment and on-demand content, viewers generally don’t mind the trade-off of no live sports or local broadcast channel availability on the streamer. Philo is a great way to watch some of the most popular cable entertainment networks at a price of less than $35 per month.

While most live TV streaming services offer some kind of digital recording capabilities to save live TV for future viewing, Philo’s low price may lead some shoppers to assume the streamer doesn’t offer DVR. We’ll give you the details on whether or not that’s the case, and more you need to know below!

What you need to know about DVR on Philo

Does Philo have DVR?

Yes, Philo offers free DVR to all subscribers of its paid Core package. In fact, the service provides unlimited DVR storage to all paid subscribers, proving its low price doesn’t mean the streamer has fewer features for customers to take advantage of.

How to record a TV show or movie with Philo

When you are browsing through the Philo programming guide and see a TV show or movie you want to record, navigate to its profile page with your remote (or cursor on the streamer’s website), and click the +Save button to record that title.

The best part about the Saved feature on Philo is that it will automatically record every airing of a TV series from that point onward and store it for you for the next year.

How to watch saved titles on Philo

Once your chosen TV show or movie is recorded on Philo, open the streamer on your chosen device and find the Saved tab on the home page. Click there, then find the show or movie you want to stream. How to delete saved content on Philo

Philo

Philo is a live TV streaming service designed for entertainment lovers, offering flexible ways to watch without the high price of traditional TV bundles. The service now features two paid plans — Essential and Bundle+ — alongside its existing free streaming offering, giving customers a range of options depending on how much live and premium content they want.

…

The Essential plan costs $25 per month and includes 70+ live TV channels focused on entertainment and lifestyle programming, such as AMC, HGTV, Hallmark Channel, Nickelodeon, and Food Network. Subscribers also get access to 120+ free streaming channels, more than 80,000 movies and shows on demand, and unlimited DVR with one-year storage. Essential also includes a 7-day free trial for new customers.

For viewers who want more premium content, Philo offers the Bundle+ plan for $33 per month (formerly the Philo Core plan). Bundle+ includes everything in Essential, plus ad-supported AMC+ and access to the HBO Max (Basic with Ads) app. Users can also access discovery+ content directly within the Philo app. While Bundle+ adds a full premium streaming bundle for just $8 more per month, it does not include a free trial.

The service is available on most major devices, including Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, smart TVs, mobile devices, and web browsers. In addition to its paid plans, Philo also offers a free ad-supported streaming experience, allowing users to explore content before deciding whether to upgrade to a live TV subscription.

While it doesn’t include local broadcast stations or sports networks like ESPN, FS1 or NBC Sports Network, Philo remains one of the most affordable live TV streaming options for entertainment-focused viewers. With a simple lineup, generous DVR storage, and a clear path from free streaming to live TV and premium bundles, Philo is an appealing choice for cord-cutters who want to keep costs down while still enjoying a wide range of popular programming.
