Where do Paramount Pictures movies stream?
Where do Paramount Pictures movies stream?
The studio’s latest hits include ‘Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning’ and ‘Smurfs,’ but where will these movies stream?
Paramount Pictures has been in the movie-making business for decades, long before streaming existed. It used to be easy to say where a movie from Paramount Pictures would be available once it left theaters: video rental stores! But since those don’t exist anymore, it’s now a little trickier to find where you can see new movies from Paramount when they’re no longer exclusive to cinemas.
We’ll let you know where you can stream Paramount movies like “Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning” when they’re ready to watch with a subscription, taking all the guesswork out of the equation.
Where do Paramount movies stream outside of theaters?
Where do Paramount Studios movies stream first?
This one is easy. When Paramount Studios are first released from theaters, they head to Paramount+, where they are available to watch on both the ad-supported and ad-free plans of the streamer. Movies are sent to Paramount+ anywhere between 45 days and 120 days after they premiere in theaters, depending on their box-office performance.
Some films spend a lot longer in theaters; “Top Gun: Maverick,” for example, spent over 200 days in cinemas thanks to the insistence of lead actor Tom Cruise. But those are special cases, and most movies arrive on the streamer in less time.
Where do Paramount movies go after Paramount+?
After they finish streaming on Paramount+ for an exclusive window, movies from Paramount Pictures head to MGM+. The MGM+ App hosts them on-demand, allowing customers who missed their chance to see them on Paramount+ to have the opportunity to watch at their leisure. Paramount and MGM’s owner Amazon agreed to an extension of their output deal in early 2024.
Does Paramount license its older movies to other streamers?
Yes, there are many examples of Paramount licensing older movies in its catalog to other streaming services. The streamer has licensed films from its Star Trek franchise to streamers like HBO Max, allowed Disney to stream the Indiana Jones franchise on Disney+, and made many other such deals as well.
Will Paramount, Skydance merger affect licensing deals?
It’s hard to say at the moment, but it could. Paramount is currently expected to close its merger with Skydance Media before the close of 2025, and when that happens, the company could attempt to seek out new licensing partners for its movies to expand their streaming distribution.
