YouTube TV will let NFL Sunday Ticket subs pay over 12 months
Previously, NFL Sunday Ticket customers had to either pay all at once or over the course of four months.
There’s no two ways around it: NFL Sunday Ticket is expensive. The out-of-market games package from the NFL has crept to almost $500 per season if you don’t also choose to sign up for a YouTube TV subscription, and in past seasons, football fans have had to either pay for the service all at once or in installments over the course of the four-month football season. This week, however, YouTube TV has rolled out a new payment option for viewers that could help them make those payments a bit more manageable.
Key Details:
- Spread it out:Viewers can now pay for NFL Sunday Ticket in 12 monthly installments.
- Less than $50: Payments will be reduced to $40 per month or less under the 12-month plan.
- Still can’t cancel: Viewers who sign up for the 12-month NFL Sunday Ticket option still can’t cancel at any point.
Viewers who sign up for NFL Sunday Ticket for the 2025-26 NFL season will notice that they can now choose to pay for the service over the course of 12 months. That could make the premium service a lot more palatable for some customers, which may be key for YouTube TV as it tries to lure more subscribers to the platform.
Monthly payments for YouTube TV will now be $31.50 per month for viewers who are also signed up for YouTube TV’s live TV streaming service, and $40 per month for customers who decide to sign up for Sunday Ticket alone. The yearly cost of the service for 2025-26 is still $378 per year for YouTube TV subscribers, or $480 for those who purchase Sunday Ticket a la carte.
It’s important to note that the 12-month option is currently unavailable in five states: Colorado, Maine, Utah, Vermont, and Wisconsin. In those states, prospective subscribers still have the lump-sum option and the four-month payment plan. Another important caveat is that you won’t be able to cancel your Sunday Ticket subscription at any point, even if you sign up for the 12-month plan. If you subscribe in March, you’ll be on the hook for an entire year’s worth of Sunday Ticket payments, whether or not you’re going to actually want to use the service in September.
The NFL keeps the price of Sunday Ticket high in order to keep too many viewers from abandoning Sunday afternoon TV broadcasts on CBS and Fox, and that hasn’t changed. But, there is at least a new way for customers to pay for the service that could make having a subscription more palatable.
YouTube TV pays $2 billion per season for the rights to Sunday Ticket, and needs to attract a large subscriber pool to make that deal worthwhile. The new 12-month payment plan could indeed help it bring more viewers into that pool for the upcoming season.
