YouTube TV has updated its live guide

There’s nothing worse than scrolling through your live TV streaming subscription and not finding the channel you want to watch because the service’s live guide is hard to use. YouTube TV is attempting to resolve any issues customers are experiencing with its live guide and has launched a redesigned version of its programming grid on mobile devices.

Key Details:

  • New and improved: YouTube TV is launching a new live guide for Android and iOS devices.
  • Worth the watch?: The new guide shows a viewer how much time is left in the program currently airing.
  • See more: Long-pressing a program in the guide will pull up a host of details and options.

The YouTube TV guide redesign is rolling out for both Android and iOS devices. If your YouTube TV app is still displaying the old guide design, ensure you update your app to the latest software version to see the new design implemented on your account.

The new YouTube TV live guide on mobile moves channel icons from the right side of the screen to the left. Viewers can now see how long a program on a given channel is, and how much more of it is left. A Live button at the bottom of the screen helps viewers jump to the current action during a broadcast.

Swiping on a channel will allow viewers to see what’s coming up in the future. Long-pressing on a channel in the guide will pull up a floating screen with recording and reminder icons, and more. Customers will still have the ability to edit the live guide as they prefer with the new update.

The updates should hopefully aid YouTube TV subscribers in learning more about the program they want to watch, and in spending less time scrolling through the service and more time watching. If it achieves these goals, it could help YouTube TV boost engagement even further as it continues to cement its dominance over other live TV streamers.
