“Des” | Thursday, Sept. 4
David Tennant leads the cast of ITV’s three-part true-crime thriller series, chillingly embodying notorious Scottish serial killer Dennis Nilsen, who freely admits his crimes to the police after they discover his drain clogged with rotting flesh and bones. Jason Watkins co-stars as biographer Brian Masters, who wrote the book on the matter (literally: “Des” is based on his 1985 bio “Killing for Company”) with Daniel Mays, Ron Cook, Barry Ward, Ben Bailey Smith, Ross Anderson, Laurie Kynaston, and more. The critically acclaimed series earned Tennant the International Emmy Award for Best Actor, his only live-action Emmy so far.

“The Tower” Season 3 | Thursday, Sept. 26
Gemma Whelan (“Game of Thrones”) leads the cast of the police procedural based on Kate London’s “Metropolitan” trilogy book series. The catalyst: a long-serving cop and a teenage girl fall to their deaths from a London tower block, as a five-year-old boy and a rookie cop survive on the roof. After Officer Griffiths disappears, it’s up to Whelan’s Detective Sarah Collins to uncover the truth about the deaths, taking her into “the dark heart of policing.” The ensemble cast features Tahirah Sharif, Jimmy Akingbola, Emmett J. Scanlan, Lola Elsokari, Nick Holder, Karl Davies, Nabil Elouahabi, Laurie Delaney, and more. New episodes will be available on Thursdays weekly.
