British Open 2024 Golf Major Streaming Options: DIRECTV STREAM, Hulu, Peacock, More
The 2024 British Open tees off this week on Thursday, July 18, and runs through Sunday, July 21 from Royal Troon Golf Club in Troon, Scotland. The biggest names in golf are set to compete for the oldest and most prestigious prize in the sport. World No. 1, Scottie Scheffler will be looking for his seventh PGA Tour win of the season having already won The Masters earlier this year.
Other stars scheduled to tee it off include Bryson DeChambeau, Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa, and three-time Open winner, Tiger Woods, who will play in all four major championships this year for the first time since 2019. NBC Sports will broadcast the last major of the year, with Peacock, USA Network, and NBC splitting coverage of the on-course action, with additional analysis being provided on the The Golf Channel.

What Is the 2024 British Open Broadcast Schedule?
In terms of broadcast and cable linear channels, the 2024 British Open is airing on NBC, USA Network, and The Golf Channel, which means that DIRECTV STREAM, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo, and YouTube TV will all carry the needed channels. Additionally, Peacock will also have streaming exclusive coverage in the early morning hours and afternoons on Thursday and Friday.
Unfortunately, Sling TV, which is often one of our top recommendations for watching sports thanks to its low monthly price, isn’t a great option for the British Open, because it only carries NBC in select markets.

Best Value: Hulu + Live TV
In many cases, Hulu + Live TV would be our top recommendation. It carries nearly all of the same channels that DIRECTV STREAM does — including all that will be covering the British Open this week — and is $3 cheaper per month at $76.99. However, Hulu + Live TV is just slightly behind DIRECTV STREAM in our British Open recommendations because its free trial is only three days long. So, if you want to stream all of the golf action from Thursday through Sunday on Hulu, you would have to pay for your first month. However, if you won’t be able to watch on Thursday or Sunday, Hulu + Live TV would be our choice.
The reason is that in addition to carrying a ton of network and cable channels — including NBC, USA Network, and The Golf Channel — a subscription to Hulu + Live TV also includes Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu’s on-demand library at no additional cost. That’s a great deal for golf fans considering all of the golf that appears on ESPN+ throughout the year. All of these different factors make Hulu + Live TV almost too good of a bargain to ignore for those who like to optimize their budgets.
Must-Have for Full Coverage: Peacock
If watching every possible second of British Open coverage is your goal for this week, then you simply cannot do without Peacock. NBCU’s flagship streaming service will have two exclusive windows of coverage on both Thursday and Friday. Each day’s coverage will kick off at 1:30 a.m. ET and run until 4 a.m. ET when USA will take over until 3 p.m. ET. Then, Peacock will finish out the day until 4:15 p.m. ET. While Peacock will only have simulcasts of NBC’s weekend coverage, if you want to watch as much of the pre-cut action as possible, you have to sign up for Peacock.
A subscription to Peacock starts at $5.99 per month with ads. If you want to go ad-free, you’ll need the Premium Plus tier which costs $11.99 per month. In addition to live sports that appear on NBC, including golf, NFL, MLB, and college football and basketball games, you also get original shows, blockbuster movies, and classic television series like “The Office.”

Fubo
Fubo does carry NBC, USA Network, and Golf Channel, so you can stream the 2024 British Open with this service. Plans start at $94.99 per month, once you factor in the regional sports network (RSN) fee that most customers have to pay. It also includes a free trial, the length of which depends on what time of month you subscribe to the service. Especially good for sports fans is that the RSN fee will give you access to NBA, NHL, and MLB regular season games in many markets, and Fubo also carries NFL Network for football fans.
