A still from The Devil Wears Prada 2, which will eventually stream on Disney+ and Hulu.

The devil is hard to kill, as Anne Hathaway’s character Andy Sachs discovers in “The Devil Wears Prada 2.” The film arrives in theaters around the United States on Friday, May 1, but it won’t walk the streaming red carpet for at least a couple of months. When do we think the movie will be ready for its on-demand closeup? Find out below!

Key Details:

  • Still got it: “The Devil Wears Prada 2” has strong reviews from critics and preview audiences.
  • No need to search: As a 20th Century Studios title, the movie will stream on Disney+ and Hulu.
  • Long wait?: A theatrical window of less than 100 days seems probable for “The Devil Wears Prada 2.”

“The Devil Wears Prada 2” sees Andrea “Andy” Sachs return to Runway magazine, where she finds it a very different place than when she left. Miranda Priestly has been humbled by scandal and the demise of print media, and a betrayal by her former employee, Emily, could be the final straw. Will Andy be able to help Miranda cement her legacy, or is Runway doomed?

Even after 20 years, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” apparently hasn’t lost the magic that made the original so popular. The film has a 79% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and 88% of audiences who have caught a preview screening approved as well. The movie currently sits at a score of 62 on Metacritic, indicating “Generally Favorable” reviews.

When will ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ be available to stream?

“The Devil Wears Prada 2” is being distributed by 20th Century Studios in the United States. That makes its eventual streaming destination a foregone conclusion; when “The Devil Wears Prada 2” ends its period of theatrical exclusivity, it will be sent to Hulu and Disney+ to stream. In fact, by the time the movie is ready to stream, the Hulu app may no longer exist, as Hulu’s integration with Disney+ is expected to be fully completed sometime in 2026.

It will probably take fewer than 100 days to see “The Devil Wears Prada 2” on Disney streaming services at home. We've prognosticated that Ready or Not 2: Here I Come” from Searchlight Pictures — also owned by Disney — would stream 91 days after its initial premiere, and that seems to be a reasonable guess for “The Devil Wears Prada 2” as well. Searchlight’s Bruce Springsteen biopic”Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere” used that 91-day release window earlier this year.

If our prediction proves accurate, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” will be available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu starting on Friday, July 31. Until then, you can stream the first film in the series with a Disney+ subscription now.
