DIRECTV Adds 10 Channels of A+E Favorite: ‘Duck Dynasty,’ ‘Modern Marvels,’ More
The new networks take advantage of the vast library of content available from A+E, including ‘Ice Road Truckers,’ ‘Duck Dynasty’ and more.
DIRECTV is giving its customers even more to watch. Mere days after agreeing to a ground-breaking carriage deal with Disney, the cable channel distributor is expanding its relationship with A+E Networks, which means that all DIRECTV STREAM, DIRECTV via Internet and DIRECTV satellite subscribers will soon have access to 10 new channels featuring favorites like “Ax Men,” “Duck Dynasty,” and more.

These new channels are available now to all DIRECTV subscribers on STREAM, via Internet or satellite plans, no matter what package they subscribe to. The channels feature popular TV shows that originate from A+E networks and provide a lean-back experience where the next episode is already chosen for the viewer.

The ten new channels now available for DIRECTV customers include:

Do New Channels Indicate A+E, History, and Other Channels Are Coming Back to DIRECTV ENTERTAINMENT?
The expansion of the deal between A+E Networks and DIRECTV should not necessarily serve as an indication that their relationship is changing in other areas. This is especially true for flagship cable offerings from A+E Networks such as A&E, [History Channel] and Lifetime.
These networks were pulled from DIRECTV's ENTERTAINMENT packages — the lowest-priced subscription option the company offers — in March. Now, viewers must subscribe to the CHOICE package (currently $108.99 per month on DIRECTV STREAM) to get them.
There was no official reason for the change given by DIRECTV at the time, but it’s likely that the channels weren’t viewed by enough customers to justify keeping them in the lowest-priced channel bundle.
Those networks remain available in DIRECTV CHOICE packages or above, but that doesn’t mean customers of DIRECTV are lacking in content from A+E Networks. They’ll now be able to enjoy the 10 new channels listed above, no matter which English-language channel package they choose with DIRECTV.
