MySports has offered ABC, NBC, and Fox since it first launched, and recently began offering CBS in a few markets as well. But many customers in more rural areas have access to local broadcast channel affiliates that didn’t yet have deals with DIRECTV. A large swath of those customers will find the situation changed as of Thursday, as DIRECTV’s sports-focused channel bundle has added almost 650 local broadcast stations to its lineup in markets across the country.
The announcement points to deals with nearly every Top Ten, all the Top 20, and about 40 more smaller broadcasters, many of them in rural markets where local channel availability on pay-TV packages can be spotty. The move comes just in time for the true start of the fall sports season, with the NFL season on the cusp of beginning and college football just getting rolling as well. The NBA and NHL regular seasons are less than two months out, and the MLB playoffs are coming up fast, too.
More specifically, the MySports package will now offer 160 ABC, 156 CBS, 163 NBC, and 178 Fox station commitments. ABC is now available in approximately 90% of homes in the United States with MySports; CBS in 85%; NBC in 99%; and Fox in 96%. In other words, local channels are available in no less than 85% of markets in the United States with this specific channel package.
Most of this content will be available with the MySports package, if not all of the top events. The slimmed-down channel plan includes ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC in a now-expanded number of markets, as well as cable sports channels such as ACC Network, ESPN, ESPN2, FS1, SEC Network, TNT, and more for $70 per month, and it comes with a five-day free trial when customers stream MySports with their own smart TV or streaming device. MySports also includes free access to the ESPN Unlimited plan of the channel’s new direct-to-consumer service.
“We created MySports to provide consumers more choice and flexibility in their viewing options while creating exceptional value,” DIRECTV Chief Content Officer Rob Thun said. “We have always been a sports leader, especially with respect to local sports, and appreciate the widespread support from America’s broadcasters in creating these more consumer-friendly programming options.”
If you want to check whether or not MySports now has local channels in your area, visit the company's website and enter your zip code when prompted to have DIRECTV show you which networks are in your region. And if you are now covered, the MySports plan now comes with a $10 discount for your first two months of service, plus free access to the MySports Extra mini pack with NFL RedZone for new customers.
There are lots of ways to watch the 2025 NFL season, but we love DIRECTV for that purpose, as well as streaming the multitude of other sporting events available in the MySports package. Thanks to Thursday’s additions, customers around the country can now watch their local broadcast channels with a MySports subscription.
