Find out everything you need to know about the ad experience on Netflix and upgrading to ad-free service, right here.
What you need to know about ads on Netflix
Does Netflix have ads?
Yes, Netflix has an ad-supported plan called the Standard with Ads tier. Costing $9 per month, this plan includes all sports and other live events appearing on Netflix, as well as nearly 100% of the titles you can stream in the ad-free library. It even allows viewers to download titles for offline viewing, a feature few other ad-supported plans come with.
How much does it cost to go ad-free on Netflix?
Netflix has two ad-free plans: the Standard plan for $20 per month, and the Premium plan for $27 per month.
The Standard plan offers all movies and TV shows in the Netflix catalog and allows viewers to stream on up to two devices simultaneously. It tops out at 1080p HD resolution, and viewers can download titles on up to two supported devices. Standard subscribers can also pay to add an extra member who doesn’t live with them.
The Premium plan offers Ultra-High-Definition 4K and HDR on select titles, as well as Netflix spatial audio. Viewers can download on up to six devices at a time and can add up to two members not living in their home. Netflix Premium can be streamed on up to four screens in the same home at once.
What’s the ad experience like on Netflix?
Netflix actually has one of the better ad experiences on the market — or at least it did when we tested the streamer last year. Given that ad-free Netflix now costs a whopping $20 per month, many viewers will probably feel fine with the trade-off of accepting ads for a much lower price.
