The seemingly unstoppable Max Verstappen and Red Bull were poised to dominate yet another Formula 1 season in 2024, but the competition refused to make it easy. While Verstappen’s relentless pace and Red Bull’s superior engineering kept them at the forefront, the season was far from a one-man show. Lewis Hamilton, in his final season with Mercedes before making his highly anticipated switch to Ferrari, fought tooth and nail to keep Verstappen from cruising to another title. Though Mercedes struggled to match Red Bull’s outright speed, Hamilton’s experience and racecraft ensured that every point was hard-earned.
Meanwhile, Lando Norris had a breakthrough season, delivering an impressive mid-year surge that saw him consistently battling at the front. McLaren’s upgrades proved pivotal, allowing Norris to claim several podiums and even a long-awaited victory, cementing his status as a genuine contender. In recent years, the Constructors’ Championship, often seen as a foregone conclusion, turned into a nail-biting fight. A resurgent McLaren and an increasingly competitive Mercedes and Ferrari challenged Red Bull’s early-season dominance. The battle came down to the final few races, with every team pushing their limits in pursuit of glory.
Tom Hutchings, Executive Producer at the show’s Box to Box Films production company, said: “We’re really excited for fans to watch the new season of Drive to Survive. The 2024 season was incredible both on and off the track, with the action well and truly underway before the first race in Bahrain. Expect more drama and fun from the paddock this season and a few surprises too.
“Go behind the scenes as teams bid for the hottest drivers on the market, experience a weekend with the drivers at the toughest race of the year; and expect a nail-biting finish right up to the last race. Fasten your seatbelts – this season is going to be our biggest ever.”
