Squid Game returns with its third and final season in June.

As fans of the series no doubt are aware, “Squid Game” just released its second season. The newest batch of “Squid Game” episodes came out on Dec. 26, and though fans likely burned right through, even the most sanguine viewer probably didn’t expect another new season’s worth of episodes to come out in 2025. As announced by Netflix on Jan. 29, however, Netflix is bringing back “Squid Game” for another turn before the year is out! Find out everything we know so far about the show’s third season below.

Everything you need to know about “Squid Game” Season 3

When will ‘Squid Game’ Season 3 be released?

“Squid Game” Season 3 will be released on Friday, June 27. Like the previous two seasons of the show, we expect all episodes to be released at once, giving viewers the option to binge right through.

Will Season 3 of ‘Squid Game’ be the final season?

Yes. As confirmed by Netflix, Season 3 of “Squid Game” will be the final batch of episodes for the show. As with all hot Hollywood properties, a return for the series in some form isn’t out of the question, but as it stands this will be the last of the planned “Squid Game” content.

What happened in Season 2 of ‘Squid Game’?

Season 2 of “Squid Game” saw Seong Gi-hun, winner of the gruesome reality series’ previous season, return to the games voluntarily. Determined to use his newfound wealth to bring down the show from the inside now that he knows its horrific secret, Gi-hun will try to persuade the game’s operators that their view of human nature is wrong. Barring that, he’s not afraid to resort to violence to achieve his ends.

The season also gave viewers more backstory into the Front Man, the black-uniformed overseer of Squid Game. The season ended with a cliffhanger, as Gi-hun is seen on his knees with a gun to his head. Will he be back for Season 3? Chances are good, but with a show like “Squid Game,” you never know for sure what twist will be dropped on the audience next.

What will Season 3 of ‘Squid Game’ be about?

Picking up where the second season left off, Season 3 explores the choices Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) will make amidst overwhelming despair. As the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) plots his next move, the surviving players find their decisions leading to increasingly dire consequences with each round of the deadly games. This season promises to push the limits of suspense and drama, keeping viewers glued to the action.

Will you be able to stream ‘Squid Game’ Season 3 free?

Season 3 of “Squid Game” will be exclusive to Netflix, which does not offer any kind of free trial to new or existing customers. That means there won’t be any way to watch the show’s third season free when it releases in June.
